What Bag for Disneyworld?

That image in my head of little kids body slamming her [emoji23]. What a weird outfit choice for a park.
Hahaha I embraced my American side more than my Asian side on that comment so I was admittedly a bit culturally insensitive :P I know that Americans love the parks and there are just so many that we get to go for the thrills all the time (smaller scale than Disney of course). You dress casually accordingly and avoid putting coins on open pockets, etc. For that lady she’s there perhaps just visiting to sight see and had no intention to hit any of the rides but rather to take memorable photos in a pretty outfit.

However I will say she (and the guy she was with) definitely stood out. I did not expect to see a Birkin at the Disney park for sure. It was high 80F and she was wearing a white suit jacket and pants, walking on designer pumps that were 3+ inches and I just immediately saw images of her holding a cup of tea with her pinky finger up. Which - I personally also would love to do and enjoy... but it was just a bit of a visual anomaly at a Disney park.... where dirty kids run around and tired parents who can no longer see straight do their zombie shuffle

I would wear one of my small Lululemon bags. They are light, cheap, most can be converted from crossbody to waist packs and a few have warweproof zipped compartments inside. When we went with our kids, I carried a lightweight backpack with wind/rain jackets and sunscreen that I could also put water bottles in. All valuables stayed in my small crossbody.

ITA w/ a Lululemon!

I have a Lulu I use when we go to the amusement park...I wear it crossbody on the rides and tuck it behind me in the seat. Plus it’s water resistant and inexpensive. IMG_7834.jpg

Thank you for this post. Heading to Disney for the annual trip next month. I find I do best there with a small crossbody for my cell phone (camera) and credit card and a backpack for snacks/drinks/souvenirs. I need quick access to a crossbody for pictures and snacks/water are essential. So I was planning on bringing my soho disco crossbody and a waterproof nylon backpack so I could stuff the disco in that if it rains or I get on a wet ride. Now you all have me thinking seriously that’s a bad move. Doesn’t it just suck when you have a beautiful bag that you want so badly to be carefree, and realize that it’s just not worth the risk to damage it? First world problems. Sniff, sniff, I wanted my soho at Disney

We are annual pass holders so we are at Disneyland on a regular basis. All bags I own have to pass the Disney test of being lightweight, comfortable to carry all day, durable, and able to fit my essentials of a small card holder, water bottle, keys, lip gloss and phone. While I have carried nice leather bags to the park (because I can skip rides and just go for dinner or shopping) I tend to wear bags that I don't have to worry about.
I agree with all brands mentioned above. Have carried them all!!! There are a couple that have not been mentioned. I know it's more of an east coast thing, but Vera Bradley bags are cute and lightweight and surprisingly durable. They have some cute Disney prints as well.
Another brand that has made it through some serious theme park action is the Overland Donner. I initially chose this bag about a dozen years ago for the vertical bottle pockets on either side of the bag. I love this feature.

It also has an organizer pocket under the front flap.
One more brand that I love is Sherpani. I have the Vida, but I like the style of the Jag as well. It is a little more tailored than the Vida.

I could go on for days......seriously!
Have a fantastic time!

I carry a Kavu rope sling bag. I see lots of people at WDW use these. Not too big or too small. Light and comfortable and slings across your back. Kavu bags come in a lot of fun colors and patterns.

Thank you all for the specific recommendations!! These are so helpful. I'm not familiar with these brands but I'll be doing my research and purchasing one of these!

If you intend to get on the rides then wear a nylon waterproof cross body. If you are just walking about, enjoying the park and taking pics then bring your heart's desire.

We used to go to theme parks all the time when the kids are young and I would always wear the nylon bag during the day and the nicer bag for late afternoon/evening strolls in the park. DH would carry the back pack for sunscreen, water and extra shirts for the kids. They want to get soaked on every ride. Kids know that if they want to buy something, then we would come back on the last day to buy those souvenirs. The only exception was when we had to buy the Harry Potter interactive wands in Diagon Alley early in the trip.

PS. Bring a couple of large & XL ziploc bags. You will need them! ;)

I wish I saw this thread before I went to Disneyland on Sunday. I took my YSL WOC and it was totally fine, but I couldn't go on Splash Mountain, which I regretted. I saw tons of ladies sporting LV Favorite MMs or Palms backpacks.

If I could do it over I would probably pick the Longchamp backpack with my Gucci Men's Neo Vintage Belt Bag. That way I would feel more secure having my phone and wallet in front with extra backpack option to hold everything else.

I hope you have an amazing trip!

Are backpacks a bad idea? I was browsing and found these cute but inexpensive options:

I'm also wondering if a belt bag would be better or just a regular crossbody (I have a Rebecca Minkoff that I don't mind beating up).

Just returned from five days at Disney. Carried my PM Reverse first few days. It rained and was totally care-free. Honestly, it handled like a champ but I found it a bit heavy for a cross body combined with a backpack. A cheap backpack is required for water, snacks, sunscreen, raincoats. The last few days I used a lighter nylon crossbody and was much more comfortable. A crossbody is essential for phone/camera, cards/cash. I’m all for using your bags and not babying them to death, but this is a situation where cheap nylon will be your best friend.

I’d take my Haiku crossbody in warm weather. I was fine with my Chloe Marcie crossbody in winter. Just don’t take a white Birkin on splash mountain and put it on the floor of the ride and wear a Snow White outfit with your 6 inch heels. Yep, I actually saw a woman do this.
