OMG thanks for sharing...that sounds horrible. I will definitely leave my designer stuff at home (thank you for sparing me the heartache). Is Splash Mountain the only ride to be wary of?
No ! There are a lot of fun -but watery- rides ....every park at Disney World has some and Universal even more I find . Don’t miss out on them for fearing of ruining your bag ... i typically carrry nylon bag or my lesther purse but if so I also have one of those rain ponchos! ( ugly but so handy

Splash Mountain was definitely the one that made me go  but in general, if you do any of the fast rides, it's kind of annoying to have a nice bag. In the most relaxed rides, you still have the metal bar over your lap and your bag might get squished, or at least tossed around on your seat or on the floor. In the craziest rides, you've got that huge contraption that goes over your head/shoulders/chest to hold you in place, and you're either going to have to squash your purse underneath there too or shove it into the netted pocket (sack?) in front of your seat. (This is a risk for all bags, of course, but if you're precious about squishing your expensive bags, as one should be, then this becomes a bit more annoying!) I didn't mind that so much because my Vuitton was canvas and I'm used to being very hard on them without any problems, but if I had a leather bag, I'd be pretty irked.

Also (and I know you're pretty much sold on not bringing an expensive bag, but more pertaining to size), would not bring a Soho, would bring something more like a medium tote because you'll inevitably end up buying stuff at the parks and will be relieved to have a purse to shove them in. A Goofy tee and a stuffed Olaf won't fit in a Soho!

Splash Mountain in Disney World can be less of a soaker than Disneyland, but it does happen. Kali River Rapids in Animal Kingdom is soak to the bone kind of wet but they have free lockers outside of the ride. Pirates of the Caribbean has a small drop and splash but minor,

I take my small Le Cuir Longchamp crossbody and live on the wild side. It has gotten wet but it is my park bag so I am okay with it. I will sometimes do just a Disney Vera Bradley backpack.

Longchmap (non-leather)
Lesportsac
Kiplings

Are best brands.. as those material prevent water get inside and happy receive being abused yet still awesome stylish so can wear over over again for next ride or non-Disneyland events

+1 on a Longchamp nylon bag with a crossbody strap. It can take a beating and you can always wash it if you get any stains. I don't think it's waterproof so if that's a concern put your gadgets in a ziplock bag!

I wear shorts with zippers and put a small wallet/card case/cardholder in my pocket. All I need are Hotel key card, credit card, Some fold up cash bills, cell phone - Small sandwich zip Lock bag folded in my other pocket. That’s my Disney/universal gear.

Last time I was there, I saw an Asian woman wearing a while pant suit carrying a white Birkin. I was rushing my soaking wet Kids who just got out of a water gun fight in one for the parks kiddie play areas.. I half want to tell one of my kids to roll around on some dirt and body slam into that woman :P
That outfit.., WHY?!?! :wtf:

That image in my head of little kids body slamming her [emoji23]. What a weird outfit choice for a park.
