What bag do you carry for bad weather/outdoor concerts/amusement parks/etc?

I have a couple of nylon bags that I like to carry to my kids' sporting events because athletic facilities are gross. I have one from L.A.M.B. and one from Dooney. I have a Lauren Ralph Lauren WOC that is made of PVC. At times, I also use my old school Prada nylon bags. Those things are amazing.

my balenciaga first from 2002 with longer strap is my go to bag. it's light, it's perfectly fits what i carry for concerts, it had cases of rain poured down but i don't deliberately soaked it in rain, its size is great to be worn inside rain coat

I've got several beater bags since I have kids.

Coach crossbody tote (black patent)
Prada WOC in gray saffiano leather
LV Pochette with strap
LV mono bucket
LV mono speedy-like (forgot name but isn't a Speedy) canvas bag
Rebecca Minkoff Mini Mac

Depending on how much I need to carry, I'll use one of these since I honestly don't care if they get ruined (already beat them up and they're old). I'm tempted to get rid of them but they come in handy when I really can't care about my bag.

Some of us keep beater bags. Some of us carry a bag a step or two down from our usual preferences. And some carry the same bag no matter where we go because we can’t be deterred from looking fabulous.

So, tell me, what do you carry in situations where—some would say--your bag is more likely to encounter hazards?

My Aldo bag from Goodwill that I got for $10! It's a cute Art Deco design and I get a lot of compliments on it but I don't worry too much about ruining it because it was only $10

I pretty much wear my Chanel bags for all occasions but do swap to the follow bags for situations where Chanel would not be appropriate/likely would be damaged. Weather perspective, for light rain / intermittent drizzle, I can still wear my Chanels made of caviar, goatskin, or distressed calfskin (2.55) bags as those are pretty hardwearing. :)

However, for heavy rain, snow, and locations where damage would be likely, the below bags are my favorites to keep me company.

Small fitting only very essential items, with cross body casual bags:
  • Coach Navy tea rose dinky cross body bag with gunmetal black hardware and tan glove leather straps/interior
  • D&B croc embossed mini briefcase bag
  • A $40 Isaac Mitzrahi embossed leather pouch bag

Essential plus a bit more space, still very casual:
  • Coach brown studded mini leather cross body bag
  • Marc by Marc Jacob bucket bag

Small shoulder bag - casual but slightly more dressy going out bag:
  • Valentino black calfskin glam lock shoulder bag
  • Fendi vintage top handle leather bag
  • ZacPosen Eartha (3 different leather textures: taupe suede, black matte leather, black shiny leather) shoulder bag

Work/shoulder totes:

  • Coach Borough bag in Alpine Moss
  • Ferragamo Lineage Tote
  • Ferragamo Chestnut tote
  • Burberry large tote (biggest capacity)

Ooo old thread but I love it! I use my LV pochette accessories with crossbody strap or speedy B 25. Also thinking of getting Longchamps to use a beater bags.

For really bad weather (think thunderstorms), I carry a Marc by Marc Jacobs bag...can't recall the style name. It is leather but it holds up fine in rain...easy to wipe down, For places like amusement parks, fairs, camps, etc where there is a very increased risk of the bag getting dirty or damaged, I carry a cheap crossbody I picked up at TJ Max (I think the brand is The Sak). If it is only lightly raining/snowing, I usually carry Chloe Mini Marcie saddlebag or Fendi Mini By The Way bag.

This is why I've held onto my old Coaches. They have zipper closures and the leather could withstand a lightning strike.

Someone mentioned PacSafe. How do those hold up? If I'm in unfamiliar territory, I carry a Travelon crossbody, which I've nicknamed Fort Knox.

I don't really have any "beater" bags but I usually will not purchase a bag if it's not practical for me. However, there are some bags that I gravitate towards depending on where I am going. My Gucci Soho Disco has held up great in all types of weather and activities. I also own a Longchamp so I will use that if I need to carry more but my Goyard has been rained on and it still looks good. I don't hesitate carrying a bag that I really want to use even in inclement weather.

I have a small Coach patent leather cross body that is my "Disneyland" type of bag. It seems to survive just about anything. But I don't generally baby my bags too much, they go where I go.

Bad weather : coated canvas / pvc bags
Outdoor Concerts / amusement parks : anything crossbody (also applicable as a bag where i am going with my kids that i needed to be handsfree)
