Plus, she happily wears a LV mono mink scarf to a Gucci event, I love brand disloyalty :p

LOL - hadn't spotted that - great posts guys

Don't ruin it by shortening it! Maybe it's because I'm in Chicago but I see young women wearing full-length fur coats in the Gold Coast regularly. As long as the rest of your outfit is young/edgy I think a full-length fur adds a luxurious finish.

Definitely a yes and wear it as much as possible while the weather is cold. I don't save my furs for special occasions I wear then to keep warm. A fur can be dressed up or down depending on what you pair with it. For a causul look pair it with jeans, UGGS, a wool scarf and hat or a trapper hat.

LOL years ago when I was supervising construction jobs I wore it with work boots, an orange safety vest and hard hat. The field guys loved it. LOL

Mink is best stored away from light, humidity and heat. It should be kept away from direct sunlight as well. Generally the humidity within a home is enough to cause some damage to the fur. It is also necessary to make sure that chemical substances like camphor balls not be placed near the fur. In cramped places like tiny closets and chests there is also the possibility of humidity accumulating. A plastic wrap would have been ideal but then experts suggest that the fur needs to breathe to preserve quality. A cloth covering can be used; if plastic is used then the coat should be used or aired once in a while to allow it to breath.

The best option is to give your fur to a professional furrier to store in long spells of disuse. These furriers also specialize in cleaning, glazing and conditioning the fur. Their storage facilities are temperature and humidity controlled.

Something I found, LadySarah - hope this helps?

Can I ask you guys what are your opinions on this fur? The price is listed at $11,500 but I am confident that this will not be the price to pay. So, assuming I can get this for say $7k - $8k - what do you think about the coat? Will the style and color be good for years? My instinct is that a fur, particularly mink is classic and will always be fashionable but I would appreciate your opinions.

I have decided that life is short and I am going to splurge on a new mink and, as I am in NYC in a week or so ...............

(thanks in advance)

If you are comfortable wearing it then I say GO FOR IT! And don't save it just for a special occasions. Enjoy it!

I love furs, always have. But it wouldn't go over well when I hang out with my vegetarian or animal loving friends and family.
