What are the "IN" jeans now.

I recently switched to Good American and have been very happy with them. After my first pair, I immediately bought 3 more!

They’re all skinny/straight (which I know is no longer “stylish”) but the waistline on the Good Waist style is insanely flattering. I’ve never been happier with a pair of jeans.

Also recently purchased a “slim wide leg” jean from Madewell— I’ve been super happy with these. They’re not quite the trendy 90s jean but definitely make me feel more savvy and of-the-moment

Given my apple shape at any weight, skinny and bootcut jeans are best for me. That's why any jeans with a full leg do me no favors. I don't want my legs to look like they match my middle. I'm glad that a variety of styles are accepted now and hope it stays that way. And I love all the recommendations since I lost touch after giving up my jean obsession and moving on to handbags.

I know Gap is not an “in” brand but I honestly don’t feel a difference in the denim between my Gap, Agolde, and Denim Forum (Aritzia) pairs. I bought the Agolde and Denim Forum ones because they had unique styles - criss-cross and wide leg capris - but just for basic jeans, Gap have always served me well. Most brands these days don’t have any unique stitching on the back pockets or special labels (like the old days of the bedazzled Guess jeans lol) so I can’t justify paying more unless they are a unique cut.

My most recent Gap pair is the Cheeky Straight and I literally got accosted by a stranger who thought they were so nice she pulled at the back waistband to get the style code

Skinny jeans will never be "out" of style. Some I recommend are Joe's, Mother and some of the new stretch Levi's 724 straight leg are very nice options. 7 for all Mankind always fit me very well, regardless of style.

I have an apple shape too, and love that many styles are acceptable :yahoo:
i do prefer a higher waist and less muffin top stretch, so I’m kind of reminded to not eat dessert.
my favorite pair is by a defunct shop called 3x1, but a close second is an old pair of everlanes. The new styles don’t fit.
my most expensive pair that are well cut are brunello joggers that are somehow full but create a shape
and my oldest pair, from the early 2000s, that I’m now able to fit back into, is a boyfriend Jean By dolce &gabbana With a wider waistband that works dolce magic.

A higher wide stretchy waistband is my go-to these days. That's why I like Democracy despite them being reasonably priced.

I remember being thrilled when low-rise jeans became popular. I could get jeans that fit without having to worry about the waist. Most of mine had a 7.5" or 8" rise. Nothing extreme!

Mother jeans for me. I used to live in skinny jeans for fall/winter (shorts in the summer).
This fall/winter... I'm living on the edge and going bootcut and flare.

I purchased a bunch of Mother jeans... flare and bootcut.
The styles I like for fall are Insider (boot-cut), Hustler (flare), and Dazzler (boyfriend/straight). I like the ankle length with chunky loafers.
When the weather moves into winter, I am sure I'll use my skinny jeans again as you can't beat skinny jeans with knee high boots.

If anyone is jeans shopping now... Bloomies, NM, and Saks all have a gift card promotion. Bloomies promo is the best... spend $1000 and get a $300 gift card! When jeans shopping, spending $1000 is not hard to do, so for those jeans shopping, it's a good time to stock up!

Anyone find any jeans that are comparable to J brand?? I live in them (the Maria) and I guess the brand is no more. I wear lots of boots in the fall and winter so sticking with skinny for now. Any replacement recommendations??

I didn't know that. My two favorite pair are J Brand and AG. But you have to try on of course.

another suggestion - look on Poshmark for a pair in the exact style and size of your old ones that's in excellent condition

Try Mother Looker. J Brand Maria used to be my go to skinny also! I had like 20 pairs, all Maria.
Skinnies are kind of out as you can guess, so also try Mother Insider. I love them! They are still fitted in the thigh, but they have a nice boot leg that makes it more chic and fashionable now. See if you might like them. I have switched over. The Insider boot cut is still narrow enough you can tuck into knee high boots. They are great for the spring/summer/fall though.

Mother has other skinny legs that are great also. Lots of choices in wash.

I think you can still buy J Brand at Theory stores/online, but yes... they are out of fashion now.
For me though, I am done with J Brand. I hung on for a long time, but I finally caved this year and moved on.

Good luck!

Thank you!
I will try those suggestions. I have been hitting up PM on the regular for my J brands but thought it was time to see what else was out there. I’m not ready to go back to bootcut or flare just yet (the 2000’s still haunt me haha)

for me there is always a risk buying jeans even in the same brand an style online...but might be worth a try if you see some in great condition for a great price
