I visited the original Chanel and I've gotta say... the current clothing underwhelms me. As my husband remarked on his own while looking at them, "It looks like they made suits for Jackie Kennedy and just never moved on from there." They're all just... fuddy-duddy, boxy, old-fashioned looking clothes to me, with one or two rare exceptions. I'm sure if they're tailored to your body they can look really nice, but... just not my vibe.
I think they’re stuck in this either making clothes for girls who are 90 pound waifs or making suits for the older Jackie k crowd. I’d like to see some modern suits. More slightly cropped styles and I don’t mean the tummy showing kind that’s too boxy. More sweaters without loud logos and wearable colors. Also if I’m going to be paying 4k for a cardigan it needs more than cutesy cc buttons. And enough with oversized sweaters with shoulder seams down the arm. Sorry they don’t look good on normal or oversized ladies. We need clothes that flatter our figures.

Starting in the 80’s and 90’s they made shorter fitted jackets and skirts. Karl’s designs were often more tailored and cut to accentuate the figure.

100 percent agree with everything you said.

Maybe, but I wasn't really getting a modern impression at the store. It was all easter egg colors and boxy suits that wouldn't flatter me. I ended up getting my first Dior jacket instead- now THAT fits my figure nicely! Really accentuates the waist.

The new 25C (?) hobo (which I love) looks like the Marc Jacobs Blake hobo from ~2005 (which I also loved at the time — but seems odd that it’s so similar?)
100%! I am not aware of any ties to MJ. You might remember the time when he was the creative director for LV and they came out with the same style bags. I'm curious to see if this Chanel hobo does well.

In the end of the day when buying vintage you don’t know what you are buying. You rely on a third party’s opinion and hope for the best.

Who tells us that vintage bags are not super fakes too?

Or who tells us that counterfeit producers don’t create “vintage pieces “ I mean how difficult is to create a deflated quilted classic flap?

Honestly unless you know the person you are buying from you will never be 100% sure.

PS: this goes for any designer bag Chanel and Hermes included

UO: the beauty of Chanel rtw isn’t in the buttons or cc logo details but in the drape and shape that the tailor will fit to your figure. The clothing itself lacks hanger appeal.

UO: Chanel rtw separates: jackets; pants; skirts easily mix with other designers like Dior; Hermes; Brunello; Loro piana

I think the opinion that Chanel rtw is old lady or not as flattering as Dior etc is a very popular opinion lol  But, speaking as someone who has a longer, thicker waist relative to my size, I sometimes cannot fit into Dior lol

I don't understand people gushing how comfortable Chanel espadrilles are. The soles are stiff and there is zero arch support.
Totally understand this opinion but I will say I LOVE my Chanel espadrilles and I've bought different iterations of them BUT will say these are the type of shoes that I beat up too aka I use them A LOT (other designers espadrilles too).
