Were the Le Dix bags faked or not?? Various and speculative opinions

With all due respect, I have enjoyed this thread. I never got the impression that anyone was going after anyone else. The buyer got a refund, so what's the issue? I find it very interesting and hoped we would eventually get a DEFINITIVE answer. I also love the chevre vs. agneau thread and I think that one is hilarious that we all buy thousands of these bags and Balenciaga laughs all the way to the bank as we wonder what our bags are REALLY made of. That is the stupidest, most ridiculous thing I have ever heard of. Can you imagine Chanel refusing to say what their bags are made of or when they changed from goat to lamb, or saying well they were always cowhide but the tag was incorrect and said lamb. :roflmfao::roflmfao: GIVE ME A BREAK:rolleyes:

I have no clue what the truth is on this bag and I don't proclaim to be an *expert* whatever that is and I've never worked for Balenciaga. We may never know, but if all of these people at Balenciaga, not just new SA's are saying it's fake, how do we KNOW for a fact that in the past few years some fakes of that bag that sells for so much would not be faked?

Surely PC would know if that is indeed their Logo. The answers can be found, it will just take a lot of time. Everything I have read in this thread is specualation. I find it odd that the one Balenciaga employee has been there since day one, does repairs and until 2008 has never seen or had one other person mention a PC lining. I think the clue lies in the PC fabric. Is it legit? If not, then the bag is a fake in my opinion. If it's real PC Logo used at that time, then I don't know what to think.

Fake or not, I wouldn't want it. How do you explain that if you want to later sell the bag since there is no definitive answer???
Do you say, " Well, I'm pretty sure it's real because lots of serious collectors on TPF say it is, but all from Balenciaga said it's fake, but let's believe the girls on TPF, now buy my bag for over 2,000." I don't think so.:p

This is NOT a thread about a transaction.

This is a thread about authenticating a rare and early edition Balenciaga.

Please do not make this personal or it will be closed and -all- comments about a transaction will be deleted.

I don't think we will reach consensus on this bag's authenticity but each person is clearly free to reach their own conclusions.

Can I just say that my posts were, and still is, geared towards tracing the origins of the fbfs in question, because I feel that any light shed on the mystery PC lining will benefit the tpf community as a whole. Is this forum not for sharing information? Is this thread not informative in the sense that everything bit of info that comes to light is posted here, so should another fbf with PC lining turns up, and someone does a search on tpf to see if bags like this has showed up before, they will find this thread and decide for themselves if the bags are real or not?

I have said that I, as the buyer of the bag in question, wasn't convinced of its authenticity, and that other experts here have deemed it authentic. I have stated that I couldn't live with not knowing for sure if it is authentic.

I have reached my conclusions about the bag in the weeks since this was posted, based on information I got from various well placed sources. However, as we all know, fashion houses are not in the practice of issuing statements about authenticity (or lack of) in writing, even if it came from the higher echelons of the organisation.

Therefore, like Darcie said, everyone is free to reach their own conclusions, and whatever it may be, we should all respect that we are all entitled to our own opinions.
