The perpetrator should be arrested. This happened in a mail order call center where I worked, and the employee who did it was arrested at work.i would maybe find a way to call ruelala because it could be an individual employee that is doing it and could be fired.
I thought your PC might have "Trojan" software or "spy software" somehow. My hubby also got charged for $29 dating service two month ago for one time CC # , and he didn't notice it until week ago, his CC called to ask if he just paid for "$800 for yahoo personal" ( dating service also ), of course he did not !
So I think using CC will have some risk, it doesn't mean the merchant is stolen your info with CC, but you will always have the CC protection.
Someone slapped my CC with $100 Skype also, but it was resolve by my Citi Card.
Thankfully, they weren't able to actually rip me off. The one time use numbers really saved me on this one.
They can't actually use it. But whoever gets a hold of the number can't tell if it is a "real" number or one time use, so they try to use it. That is what my bank picked up on. I just wanted to mention it in case folks gave that merchant their regular card number.
The crooks actually attempted only small charges in my case. The person at the bank suggested that may have been their way of "feeling out" whether the number was good before going for a bigger hit.
It is a service offered by the bank. I know Bank of America and Citi Bank both offer it.
