Waitinglist for Birkin, how long did you had to wait?

For my first one, I didn't wait because I found it on the shelf. And took it with me right there and then. But I'd been wanting the exact bag for a while before then. Now I'm waiting for a podium order to arrive which I've been told will be July-Sep. It's about 5-7 months since it was placed. Like some other posts, I like the wait. It makes you to treasure it more, doesn't it!

Going on 8 months now! It's too bad that patience has never been one of my virtues! :p But I have to agree with you ladies...the waiting is just going to make it that much more special when she finally comes in!

Blimey - I might have to put my order in now! (save as I wait as some have already noted)

I've always wanted a Birkin but too afraid to step into a store in case I get shunned away because I don't look posh enough.

In any case it looks like the wait list is long! I'm guessing the more classic colours like black and navy take longer to come in??

Cookie, if you want a birkin, go in with confidence and make your wishes be known. You are the customer, you're king, or queen in this case. As for looking the part, don't worry about the posh factor. In this day and age, you can't tell who has the funds and who's a tire kicker. Sometimes I go into H with leggings and flats and other times, dressed, on the way to an event and will run in for that perfect scarf to complete the outfit.
Funny story, I was in there when a woman in sweats and sneaker walks in. She was carrying a full, brown, paper grocery bag. No one approached her. She looked around and finally approached my SA who was helping me with enamels. She asked to also see a couple I was looking at and about hand gloves. While I was deciding, she said I'll take these. Which one? 2 enamels and 2 pairs of gloves. She walked out in 15 min with over $2000 worth of purchases. So, posh or not, you never can tell.

For my first two birkins I didn't wait at all, got them straight from the back room in Paris: raisin and gris tourterelle.
Then I made an SO at FSH for my HAC 32 in graphite lined in griolet, for which I waited 9 months.
My birkin vert bronze was a PO which took 3 months to arrive, in Paris again.
The longest wait was for my black birkin, ordered in London, it took 14 months to arrive... my SA even apologised that I had to wait so long!

I waited 8 months for the perfect color to come in. And while the wait was definitely long and frustrating, it just made it that much more special when I finally got my dream bag.

Was holidaying in NY and decided to visit the Madison Avenue boutique and somehow walked out with a Birkin 30 Bois de Rose!!!

I was not dressed in anything posh (rainy day) and was quite casual when asking about the Birkin! Imagine my surprise when the SA said they had one available and if would I like to see it :D I fell in love with the bag immediately, and the colour was so heavenly!

Just curious, I've asked the London boutiques many times how to get on a wait list since last year, but always been told that there's no wait list and I've to try my luck! So how does one get on the waitlist as I really want to be able to choose the colour / leather I like (although I was very lucky with my baby bois de rose!)?

There is an interesting thread on the London waiting list here

I got my Kelly, exactly what I was looking for right out of the back room. I loved it so much I SO'd or PO'd my next Kelly.(honestly I understand the difference but I have no idea which I actually did!) Anyway, the SA told me the order won't go in until this July's podium, so basically she said a minimum of 6 months and a max of 2 years, and this is for a Kelly.:confused1:

After my local store offered me everything except the birkins they had out the back my DH rang a store interstate.

Couple of hours later they called backed and offered a black 30, blue de malte 35 and an orange 35. I couldn't get my credit card out quick enough and 3 days later the blue de malte arrived.

i got my first birkin 2 months ago at George V, Paris straight from the back room, so

no wait at all.

it was exactly what i was after, Etoupe 35, so i was very pleased indeed.

ps: i had actually gone in to try and place an order, and would have waited for a year to

get it.

I guess it depends on what you are looking for. My first Birkin purchase occurred when I went into the store to pick up a jersey silk scarf, saw it on display and immediately took it home for me. To be honest with you, I have been lucky with the H angels because I haven't had to be on any waiting lists for Birkins; the only waiting list I've been on is for the Kelly Lakis 32cm.
