Vintage Gucci - Requires Repair - Send back or Artisan?

Hi all,

I own a gorgeous vintage all leather Gucci handbag, looks really old, perhaps 1950's? The handles are really worn and need replaced, but the leather is quite an unusual fawn colour and may be hard to match.

I was just wondering what other people did with their vintage bags. I can send back to Gucci, but is there anyone else out there who might do a better job of repairs on vintage bags? Anyone sent a vintage back for repair?
Would love to hear your thoughts.

I took a vintage box leather belt (about 20 years old) to be repaired to Gucci (to get the leather strap replaced) they did it perfectly :biggrin:

I have to take a 1960s bag to be repaired (more like cleaned) - I won't know if they can do it till they send it away.

Like me you might just have to ask and hope for the best, I certainly wouldn't trust anyone else but Gucci to do the job.

Don't send it to anyone other than Gucci!

They do a brilliant job. The repairs can be on the pricey side, and typically take 6 weeks to 3 months depending on how complicated the repair is - but I wouldn't trust anyone else.
