In the last couple of months, maybe more, a few people used one of the Saphir products on white/ ivory. Unless it was a really intriguing bag for cheap, I would rather buy in better condition. I bought an 08 Pleated Ergo in off white. It was in good shape. And looked good after dunking. It just seemed to get dingy looking if I used it two days in a row.
That being said, I did my basic dunk on a few bags from flea market/thrift. One was incredibly dry and scratched and was completely an exercise, for a buck, the others, including a white Dinky no less, were in fabulous shape. A white Dinky was not on my search list, but for $7.50 at a thrift shop, it felt criminal to leave it there. I think I posted a pic. The super dry, scuffed bag responded better then I thought it would. I made buy some white recolorant for it at some point, but it is not a priority. And I got a hang tag out of it. [emoji38]
Off topic, I usually don’t find NYC at that thrift shop. Usually lot of contemporary and always a ton of black Legacy Hobos in all sizes (they made a lot of them in CR, and the leather still feels good) , beat to death, along with a Janice’s Legacy, also beat to death. And the requisite Foach. But I digress.
Oddly enough, most of the white bags I've seen for sale look to be in really terrific shape. I wonder if people get weirded out with whites and just store them away, only to use them for special occasions or what.

Lol, if it was a generation or two ago, they were only being used between Memorial Day and Labor Day
But I agree, they were more special occasion friendly.

I still have to dunk the navy Willis but the black one is done for now. (I have to work on the hardware but I'm not sure when I'll have time to get to it.) I thought this was a pretty good pic for showing the color difference in the bags. The navy one is so dark it looks black when it's not next to something black. I didn't buy that frisky bag charm for this bag and I've actually had a LOT of trouble matching it to any of my other bags due to the brown with the silver hardware but I think it looks really cute on the navy Willis! The blue in the charm brings out the blue in the bag. It's going to look so much better when the bag is all cleaned up!!

She changed her name, so maybe she got married or divorced. For me, Montana is too cold!

Yep, winters can be brutal, especially when you have horses to worry about. And I didn't notice the name change, Congratulations to her and her new hubs if that's the case. (Just as long as it's not to my ex, he's down there somewhere.)

My step son has been accepted for a summer internship with Coach at their Hudson Yards location in Manhattan. I’m actually helping him get settled in at the end of this month and will be visiting the lobby where all of their bags are displayed. Thank you for sharing this info—I can’t wait to see her work! There’s nothing more beautiful than a restored leather bag.

That's great! What will your son be doing?

He’ll be interning in footwear and living in the Fashion Institute dorms. He really isn’t sure about exactly what he’ll be doing...he’s just crazy excited about being accepted into the program...and we are crazy proud of him! I’ll post some pictures on here of the lobby—he said they have a full display of every bag made. I’m not sure if that’s the case, but I can’t wait to find out!

That sounds fantastic! I doubt it is every bag that was ever made! Some people on the forum own styles the Coach historian knows nothing about. I have a few I'd love to see if they have them in the archives.

Years ago, before Coach got the idea to display vintage styles, many of us were dying to get into the archives. There was talk of organizing a trip but it never went anywhere. Then Debi donated some bags to them and got invited, and that is how she ended up working for Coach.

That’s so cool! My step son will be entering his senior year of college this fall at Kent State in Ohio. He’s been working for 3 different Coach outlets since he was 18 and he’s such a great salesman as well as rep for the company. He hopes to have a career with them as well. I will definitely take as many pictures as I can and share them with all of you! Thank you so much for the “chats” about this topic. ;)

I have a Devon and a Willis, and I'm just now realizing the reason I find them so attractive is the leather 'tab' around the kiss lock. Does this thing have a name? See red arrows in photo.
Here is my question... is there a vintage bag which has this tab that is larger width wise and depth than the Devon, but smaller than the Willis? I seem to prefer more horizontal (like the Devon) over vertical (like the Willis). I've had a Station but it was too tall and narrow.
Is the Prairie bigger than the Devon? I like the squareness of the Devon but will try the rounded bottom if that's all there is...
Thank you!
