thank you all for your kind words. my gallery bag wishes to add that she hopes to goodness her owner will now leave her what dignity she has left. she has retired to the coat closet to brood on her wrongs.

i am now inspired to get out my very own i bought brand new stew ( with the humongous ink spot) from 1988--?--or so, and --and....

...forget about it. this is a really really bad ink spot. think i was affecting fountain pens at the time.

My friend sells at our local Flea Market and I was able to snag this dark brown Clutch portfolio. Nary a scratch, tear or discoloration. Someone really took good care of this baby. The dimensions: 13 x 9 x 1.15.
Ooh, that's nice! I love mahogany!

ETA: In case you are interested in the style number, here is a picture of the ad with the original price.

Oh you Naughty Kittens..I think we traumitized this guy..here is his reply to moi..

Thank you for your inquiry. Sorry , I was asked not to give that information out, Now I know why. I feel So like an idiot. Thank you and the other inquiries for setting everything straight for me. Live and learn , I guess.
Best regards, Bruc

You are BADBADBAD Girls!!..I'm dying to know who made up all that BS he can't disclose? could it be perhaps an EX..a woman scorned?? ........I need a life!!
Poor guy! I wrote to him as well to give him some info about his listing. He was pretty cool about it. At least he didn't get all defensive and rude. So he's either never gonna list another Coach bag or he'll do some research before he does. I didn't ask who provided the fictional background on that purse, it was pretty good, too! All's well that ends well.

Well, he's sure found a new way to meet women. Just list a Coach bag with a heap of cr** and wait for them to contact you!

:graucho::giggles::wave:

:ty:Thanks for the info. Now if I can find the smaller one.....
You're welcome. The small one is almost exactly like a basic bag. It is a tinier bit less deep and doesn't have the strap attachments on the side. Other than that, it looks identical to the basic bag. It is really easy to find a basic bag.

I wish I was as brave as I am now with the concept of restoring a handbag, years ago. I saw a bunch of gorgeous vintage coach bags, all examined and deemed authentic, at a nearby consignment store for ridiculously reasonable prices (the store is across a higher-end consignment that deals with a lot of vintage luxury items so they compete when it comes down to handbag prices). I only bought one that wasn't very vintage at all (little scribble hobo, just did a quick spraying with carpet cleaner and she's white as new!) and left the rest behind. One was a wallet I really loved but I didn't know how I would fix it. All I would have to have done is a simple conditioning and a dye job!! Ahhhhh!!!
Anyone have a time machine? Haven't seen that wallet since.

lol! :lolots: I believe the seller really thinks that is what is called!

I have regrets too! I bought my first Coach probably in the late 70s from the Coach store in San Francisco. Every year I would buy a new one and give the old one to Goodwill. I didn't know they could have been washed and rehabbed. I can't even remember what styles I had.

FYI, wallets are much harder to restore than purses.

Here's a beautiful Madison http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rare-COACH-...563?pt=US_CSA_WH_Handbags&hash=item3cea86059b
A bit overpriced though. The seller apparently wants to be a model. Look at her other listings. Her outfits and poses are interesting!
