It is a neat style but most of the piping is completely destroyed. You would have to have a supply of leather cut into strips to make new piping and an industrial sewing machine to sew it on. It would be a very difficult task and not worth the money and time since you could probably find one in nearly perfect condition for around $50. If I found a bag like this, I would use the strap on something else and cut up the rest of the purse for other projects.I've seen purses this far gone be restored to a great condition!

Oh you Naughty Kittens..I think we traumitized this guy..here is his reply to moi..I wrote to the kitten MAN too and got this reply
"I stand corrected. Thank you for the information.
Best Regards, Bruce"
AND he has amended the listing. I also wrote to the other seller about the 1940's bag but no reply yet.
well dear readersthank you very much! i think i've got it! lets see...
this should be my poor gallery bag...
Congratulations. That looks good. Nice colour. I had a similar experience with a bone soft satchel. My daughter said she would use it but unfortunately the refinisher started peeling off almost immediately. It's now in the too, too hard basket. One day I might tackle it again!well dear readers
here is my poor gallery bag, after a coat of leather magic in caramel, and a 2nd coat of tarrago dye in carmello. or vice-versa. i am so traumatized by this whole experience i am not sure.
anyhoo, lessons learned:
listen to the advice you receive on this forum.
unless you're an expert, or prepared to lose your bag--DON'T try to redye it. except maybe black.
assemble all your materials ahead of time. (like trying a new recipe, lol)
invest in a pair of gloves that fit. ( i knocked my dye bottle over twice, fumblimg with too-big gloves)
mask your hardware. (yeah, duh, right)
sit down and ask yourself if you really want to do this. have a nice glass of wine. you may change your mind...
realize that (unless you're an expert, or the purse fairy really really likes you)--you're unlikely to want to actually carry your masterpiece.
here she is. still needs brass cleaned, more conditioning..
I have three that need redyeing. I have no idea when I'll get to them. I don't think there is a product available to amateurs that does a decent job.Congratulation. That looks good. Nice colour. Well at least he was polite and changed the listing. I've had others who have thanked me but left the listing with the BS, and mostly they don't bother replying like the seller of the 1940's bag. I don't contact sellers often but sometimes I just can't help it ...and I need to get a life too!Oh you Naughty Kittens..I think we traumitized this guy..here is his reply to moi..
Thank you for your inquiry. Sorry , I was asked not to give that information out, Now I know why. I feel So like an idiot. Thank you and the other inquiries for setting everything straight for me. Live and learn , I guess.
Best regards, Bruc
You are BADBADBAD Girls!!..I'm dying to know who made up all that BS he can't disclose? could it be perhaps an EX..a woman scorned?? ........I need a life!!
That was a good price. I have four so I really don't need more. They're easy rehabs, no turn locks!I have three that need redyeing. I have no idea when I'll get to them. I don't think there is a product available to amateurs that does a decent job.
I meant to bid on this but I forgot. Someone got a good deal!

I'm starting to move away from Black BAGS ALL THE TIME..
Maybe I will keep it??? I keep buying Lulas, because I love drawstring bags, but they are too heavy, this is light in comparison! have to post it at AT..
Also I invited Rosey The Cat who had 3 kittens' DAD ~Bruce to join us...
We don't Chew up & spit out out ALL the Men who are brave enough to visit TPF, DO WE??The last guy. we made mincemeat out of~the one who couldn't understand why plagiarism shouldn't be considered a form of flattery??
Yeah, he ran away from here FAST:doggie:
And , Lonesomeoctober..that bag looks pretty good! Kudos to you for braving the dye..
Never say Die! You go girl!! Every rehab teaches you a lesson in humility~if nothing else..
Lessons learned~sometimes!! Cheers Ladies!!!!![]()
