Don't know if anyone here could help with some suggestions. I've posted in the rehab area too. But, does anyone here have suggestions for my new to me Meyers bag? I don't want to dunk it, if it's too delicate for that. Any help would be appreciated!

Leather cleaner and conditioner. You don't want to use anything thick like CPR on the woven part. Pretty bag!

I pulled out my vintage city bag after so long. It is still a nice bag! Can we tell where ot was made? The creed says "...handcrafted in the United States..." And it is # K1D-9790.

I don't know if the creed info tells where it was made. Anyone know? It's black and in pretty decent shape. I might polish it and use it again. Memories! :)

It was made somewhere in the US. I don't know where the D factory was located. It was made in 2001.

You'd be surprised at how much nicer it would look after a bath!

That's gorgeous! Whateve is right, lightweight cleaner and conditioner.

Here is one of my new finds - a very rare suede slim tote (the only one known so far). It is not only suede on the outside but also on the inside. The exterior suede is made by using special brushes on the leather to create a low suede nap. It was a very hard bag to rehab and the first handbag I've ever been afraid of! I've included one photo of it before and a few after shots. The first after shot was most of the way through the rehab while the second front shot is the finished bag.
From the beginning, the front of the bag was in fairly good shape but the back was a whole other story as something had gotten on it which turned the suede a dark shiny gray that did not want to come off. As you can see, the color depends somewhat on the lighting but it pretty much matches the inside of the bag. Hope you like it. It is one of my treasures although I hope I never have to do another one like it. :-)

Hi JOODLZ! I used suede cleaner, tried some Dawn on the really bad stuff (didn't work). tried a bit of vinegar and water (didn't work and left a bad ring). I set that bag aside a few times as I was totally frustrated. After two or three weeks, I went back, tried the suede cleaner again with a white paper towel and all of a sudden whatever was on it came off - just like that. Go figure.

IF I ever encounter another one, I would use Nubuck products on it. I discovered that my hand washing brush worked wonders on it and the process to make that kind of suede is the same as it is for Nubuck. The hard, shiny, blackish stuff is gone and it looks great now. The hang tag still doesn't look very good and it's not suede! I dunked it twice and may dunk it again. It's only a guess but I think either honey or pancake syrup got spilled on it. At this point, it is resting safely in a sleeper bag where it will stay. :D
