Why do people not take care of their bags?OMG! This is not my idea of 'Fair Condition'. Looks like dry rot to me.

Thanks chow!I love the way you stage your bags!
Yeah it's too bad about the quality nowadays. It cant compare with vintage Coach.Yummy thick chewy leatherToday I was in the outlet and they had a couple of the new Coach classic Madison satchels. The leather was shiny, thin and felt cheap. The vintage version is so much nicer.
Congrats! Great it is in nice condition too.Holy c**p...I'd call it BEWARE condition!!!
My GW's have been a little dry lately...and I've been much more selective with my buying, but yesterday I was absolutely thrilled to find a 1993 Becket Zip #9920 hiding in the canvas/plastic tote bags. Very clean with unique strap attachment...and the strap narrows to the shoulder. Somebody in the pricing department really goofed (thank you very much!) with a $14.99 tag on this beauty...no major rehab required...YAY!
That's why I don't have a Bal. I don't live near a store and I've heard that the quality varies from bag to bag so you really have to pick it out in person.Yeah it's too bad about the quality nowadays. It cant compare with vintage Coach.Yummy thick chewy leather
But then again, other brands are like that too. Chanel, Louis Vuitton. Worst thing is they increase prices every year but the quality just plummets. My mum's vintage speedy is miles ahead in quality compared to the speedy they sell in stores nowadays. And my sis bought a Balenciaga bag recently, and the leather was not good either. Thin, shiny and you have to baby it! At the prices they charge for Bals, you'd think the leather would be better than recent Coach bags.
The thing about Bals is that you have to purchase 2007 or earlier. The leather is divine in those years, soft as a baby's bottom. I bought an '06 Grenat a few weeks ago. Naturally I used leather therapy and Blackrock before I put her away for fall and all I could do was leave her out on my table so I could caress the leather every time I walked by her! I got started with Bals 2 years ago when they introduced the Hamilton line. The leather is much thicker on most Bals. It's chevre like the 2007 and earlier bags. 2008 and on are agneau and the leather is subpar in my mind. They ran another Hamilton line this year and I have one winging it's way to me as we speak. I also have a bag that is going to be my first rehab Bal. I think the older leather is going to respond like the old Coach leather. I will post pics. That's why I don't have a Bal. ETA: I've seen other classics in the outlet and the leather doesn't look that bad. It was just really bad on these satchels.
Ooh yes that's the thing with coach nowadays. They use different leather for different styles so quality is not really consistent. That's why I don't have a Bal. I don't live near a store and I've heard that the quality varies from bag to bag so you really have to pick it out in person.

Thanks for the tip about Bal! Should pass this info to my sister. Her Bals always have issues but they are the recent ones. Hardware falling off after 2 months and stuff like that. And I searched the Hamilton line and by golly those are nice leather. I love thick pebbled leather.
Can't wait to see your Bal rehab!![]()
Congratulations. I love the strap attachment.
Very nice! Love that attachment. Nice to find one in such great condition.
Congrats! Great it is in nice condition too.
I'd love to get a Bal City in a really cool colour one day. Thanks for the advice about pre-2007.The thing about Bals is that you have to purchase 2007 or earlier. I think the leather on the '05,'06 and '07 is the best! Good luck! I have a bag I am going to rehab on it's way to me, am hoping working on Coaches has prepared me!I'd love to get a Bal City in a really cool colour one day. Thanks for the advice about pre-2007.

I got the same bag in green for $4! Do you think I could get $268 for it?
There was at least one fake in there! You'd think that seller would eventually figure out that no one in the US OR Japan is going to pay them full retail for a used Coach.
