I thought there used to be a "Coach Chat" thread, but I cannot find it now, so I ask here, please move if not the right place.
I have been looking at Ramblers lately and there seems to be two styles with this name..9735 the earlier one and 9061 the later one. The 9735 is a bit too large for me, but I like the dimensions of the 9061. My question is, are the 9061 bags made in Costa Rica, Mexico and China (the origins I found for this bag) of the same quality as the 9735 bags ? Are the leathers among those countries equal in quality ? If someone has both bags, I would appreciate the input on the quality. Also did Coach source their leathers in the countries where they produced the bags, or where the leathers shipped there from USA ? other countries ? Thanks in advance for the input.

You can't really compare the leather on the two styles. 9061 is called a Rambler's Legacy. Many people neglect to call it by the correct name, which is why you think there are two styles with the same name. I have a 9061 made in the US in 1999. It might be the nicest, most supple, leather of all my bags. Costa Rica leather is usually wonderful too. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if the leather on a 9061 is nicer than on many 9735 Ramblers, just because they aren't quite as old. I also have a 2005 China Rambler's Legacy. The leather is pretty bad. China made bags aren't necessarily bad but those made after 2003 definitely don't have as nice leather as earlier bags. Leathers were probably sourced from different countries but we don't really know which country's leather went to which plant.

Thank you whateve for your clearing up the name conundrum and your insights into Coach's leather sourcing. I really like the Rambler LEGACY  9061 for it's dimensions and the extra slip pocket under the flap (a home for the reader), so I will keep my eyes peeled for either an American or Puerto Rican made bag.

Hi, it is on the main Coach forum page, under the Normal Threads. Sometimes it is far down … but I thought it had been pinned to the top recently. Guess not. FYI  Here’s a link.
I have one in Cornflower I bought pre-owned. I agree with whateve, it is a classic shape that doesn’t go out of style. And of course I own one, so that being said, I find that the quality of the leather and details, construction, enhance the classic style as well. I say go for it. Plus they’re roomy, right?
And side note, I have seen them listed in black, under the radar and have been tempted!

Yes. Yes, I do know what that means. It is time. Who's first?
I have to get some CPR out. You do have the more stunning collection! Whenever the mod strikes you. Will def have time by this weekend for a photo op  if not sooner. Just my two rusties. May have to throw in my HG saddle Shopping Bag and BT Carrier, for, well, just because …
