There have been sellers that purposely don't show the number on the creed because they think another seller will steal it.
Yeah, like Narnanz said, a simple watermark would've solved that problem (which isn't really a problem...), but I guess it's not like they're in any hurry to sell the item?

But, all that makes me truly appreciate all those wonderful sellers - and I've encountered quite a few of those - who post clear detailed pictures, disclose all the flaws and wear and tear the item has and are just all-around pleasant people to deal with.

This was fascinating. Also, which bags are these?? Sorry about the small size, it's just a screen shot from Cyberia's Screed:

I just saw one like this sell on posh the other day. Was black with white piping if I remember correctly.

The original 1970 style is a very rare bag. Here's a great article published in Elle Magazine dated 2011, with a picture of the Coach archivist Jed Winokur finding a Body Bag at a flea market. Nice shot of him and model Noot Seear wearing the bag:

Coach did a "Cashin inspired" limited edition reissue of the body bag around 2000-2001 (style #9074, 9075).

This post was actually educational for me - it helps me to understand what is going on with the leather in some of my 2006 bag acquisitions and why the damage is that and hopefully that will help me as I work to rejuvenate them!

I agree with other comments about how it needs so better paragraph breaks. I really enjoyed the history lessons as well.

I saw one of these a while ago on eBay and started watching it because I can’t afford it haha... definitely caught my eye. Good to know what style it is! And that is most likely the reissue?

Here is the black and white 1970's body bag listing if anyone is curious. The creed reads that is a limited edition, so certainly the reissue. Feels weird calling it a body bag but it is what it is!

Thanks for finding that. It's interesting that the seller didn't seem to realize what she had. No mention of Bonnie Cashin or the fact that it was a limited edition (which she would have picked up if she'd read the creed). It's too bad the serial number isn't showing, because it leaves some doubt about the authenticity of the bag. Assuming it's authentic, someone got a great deal!

I found this on the Wayback, style #9075 was called Bonnie Retro Small Hobo:

I think #9074 must be the slightly larger Bonnie Retro Hobo, but the picture is missing from the Wayback.

As for the original "Body Bag," here's a sketch by Bonnie Cashin where she uses the term, although the bag in the sketch looks like a slightly different bag.

It does look like a different bag! I haven't been following vintage Coach very long but when I saw that listing it made me stop my scroll immediately. Such an interesting style. Exactly the type of thing I think of when I think of 70's fashion and style.
