Vintage Chanel Diana Review- mygrandfathersthings

I was fortunate to win a MGFTs silent auction last month, and could not be happier with my purchase. The vintage Chanel, 1 series, beige 24k GHW lambskin medium classic flap was in excellent condition for its vintage age, accurately described, and packaged with great care. Buying secondhand from online retailers can be a gamble, especially if you’ve never met the seller, and are unable to physically examine the bag yourself. I didn’t have to worry about any of that with MGFTs. Thank you, MGFTs for addressing the concerns I had in a timely manner, and most importantly, for being honest and authentic. I would highly recommend checking out MGFTs for vintage Chanel purchases! C3893F7B-9F80-41BB-8703-4C2BC5C1D821.jpeg

I got my first vintage Chanel from MGFT - a small black Diana. MGFT was very responsive the entire time and honestly I trusted her because I have been following her for some time, reading all her blog articles and following all her stories, and found her to be one of the most articulate and organized sellers. She is super clear about the condition of each bag through her stories.

I just purchased my first vintage Diana bag from mygrandfatherthings (MGFT) as well. I’ve been following her for some time but was a bit apprehensive making a large purchase especially over Instagram. I’ve looked at websites like fashionphile and The Real Real, and their Diana’s look extremely flat and in poor condition, like as if a car ran it over once. I think MGFT has *the best* selection of vintage Dianas I’ve seen so far. So after awhile of literally stalking her Instagram posts/story, blog, and this purse forum thread, I’ve decided to pull the trigger and participate in her auction for the Diana.

When the bag arrived I was shocked because it is in much better condition than I expected. It looks way better in person. She described every microscopic detail and literally tells it like it is. Based on her Instagram posts, you can tell she is highly experienced in vintage Chanel’s. Her packaging was well thought out and even threw in a cute card, red envelopes (in honor of CNY) and strap shortener. I purchased her ferdie and fluffy accessories because they look so darn cute and I know it will help maintain my Diana.

Anyway, I hope my review helps. Just to put it out there, I’m usually skeptic and a worry wort, but I decided to trust my gut and I’m so glad I did! Even if you’re not ready to purchase, just follow her anyway because her posts/story can be entertaining and you might learn something new! She also names her purses which I thought was so cute and unique.

I wanted to add my review for MGFT. I have been stalking MGFT for a long time, and I was finally able to purchase a small diana. My bag arrived in excellent condition, and shipping was very fast from HK to the US. It was packaged so well, and the extra details that are included (silk dustbag, thank you card, and chain shortener) are such thoughtful touches. I even purchased a fluffy and ferdie to protect my bag, and you can tell that they're great quality! The bag looked even better in person than in the pictures, and I am extremely happy with my purchase. I highly recommend purchasing from MGFT and can't wait until I can buy another bag from her soon.

First time buyer with My Grandfather’s Thing #MGFT and very happy with the quality of my vintage Chanel bag. Great condition, looks like it was barely used. Shipping was fast as soon as bank transferred cleared. Can’t wait to show off this beauty. Very responsive to questions regarding auctioning process. Bidding is in US dollars, so check with you bank on transfer fees or exchange rates to HK dollars since it can vary from quoted rates on google. B463A562-C79F-4560-A26E-A682D5660500.jpeg

Could you please share how much it cost to win and did you have to pay tax when you received it?

First time buyer of MGFT (My GrandFather's Things) and I got a small lambskin Diana from a shark sale (first come, first serve style). This is one of my dream bags and secondhand is the only way I could get it. But I was so scared of the risks that come when buying a preloved bag (it might be fake, the flaws were not fully disclosed, etc.). I found MGFT and started following her on insta. I commented on one of her stories and, to my surprise, she replied back! She has answered all of my questions, even when I wasn't committed to buying or bidding on a bag yet. That's when I knew she was genuine and knew her craft, and decided that I would like to purchase my Diana from her.

Fast forward to now and I finally got one! The shipping was freakishly fast (from HK to US). The package was nicely wrapped so it's well protected and wasn't damaged, at all. I bought a Fluffy to keep its shape, but she included the dust bag, Ferdie, and a thank you card (and a tote but it's a promotion for their birthday month). She was also very patient and understanding throughout the whole process (no snooty attitude!).

In terms of the condition of the bag, I am floored at how amazing she looks for her age (almost 3 decades old!). Of course there are some creasing and the front of the bag caves in slightly but these bag were well loved before. I don't expect them to be perfect, and no one should. But, again, for her age, she's a stunner!

I just wanted to say that your Diana is absolutely gorgeous! I only started following MGFT a few weeks ago and the Diana you bought was the first one where I was so tempted to buy. I happened to go on insta 4 minutes after MGFT posted it shark style and it was already sold!

Congratulations on your new bag!

Thank you! I definitely stalked her page on the weekends for the last month to try to snag a Diana lol. I was outbidded once and was really disappointed. When she announced that it'll be a shark sale, I knew I had to be quick to get it. And I'm so happy I got it!

She's really down to earth and so kind, she has replied to all of my questions and comments. Don't be afraid to reach out to her! That way she knows who are sincere about these bags.

I hope you get your opportunity to get a Diana soon! Good luck!

Yes, and I noticed that the recent reviews are all new tPF members whose only posts are about this seller....seems strange to me.
Yeah my point exactly, many of these “reviews” are by new users. I don’t see a need to dedicate a long and extravagant post to them.

Wouldn’t you want to keep your seller as a secret as well? Given the ever increasing prices of vintage Chanels, it’s hard to find a good Chanel piece.
