Vintage Cartier Ring.. what do you think?

I LOVE big rings, and this one is beautiful!

Take it to Cartier -- I wouldn't trust such an intricate, antique ring with anyone other than the source.

If that ring were mine, I'd size it so I can wear it on my index finger (with no other rings, of course). A ring like that needs to be center stage, and worn boldly!

Just joined this forum and seen your post about your Cartier Ring your Grandmother passed onto you. Had to jump in and say hi and it's so gorgeous & unique, haven't seen another like it. I'm in the early stages of learning about Vintage & Antique Cartier, researching the handbags, they're all so beautiful.

I was surprised to see my thread up on top again.. Thank you all! I love this ring! I haven't had it sized yet.. I am still thinking about it! The reasoning behind it is that it's like a 6.5 or 7 and my finger is large, a 10, for the middle finger. I am hoping that I will lose some more weight and have a smaller finger!! I am waiting.

I will take it to Cartier though, no doubt!

Anyone have any idea what period this ring could have been made? I have no clue! One jeweler called it Deco.. and It doesn't look art deco to me at all. My grandma always called it her peacock ring :smile1:

The ring looks like it was made in the late 1940's or early 50's. Cocktail rings like those were very common then and are very much in demand now. I am sure they could size it to fit your middle finger. GO FOR IT! I think it's stunning.

aw i love the peacock ring description! its perfect. but as for resizing, why not size it to your pointer finger, then as you loose weight, you can wear it on your middle

It's beautiful. I'd definitely wear it. You don't necessarily have to wear it every day, because it's so big, but you could wear on those special occasions that call for a little more sparkle.
