That’s great advice and I will do exactly as you say. Thank you for taking the time to respond with such a detailed reply I was really not sure at all how to handle it, I’ve never had to deal with anything like this before. Everything you have said makes perfect sense and has really helped me. Thank you so much

Look, I have been there, unfortunately I once paid, it was a mistake, but legally a company you have no contract with, they are a delivery company somebody else employed, you did your part, you sent, you did not decide to send with them, Vestiaire picked UPS, the contractual obligation is between them, By trying to bill you, they are actually committing fraud. I encourage you to report it as possibly a lot of people fall for that scam

I agree with you completely VC and UPS have the contract not me. I actually thought it was a scam invoice when I opened the envelope at first but then checked the tracking number, and dates matched that sale. Also Vestiaire initiated the return to me, its clearly stated from Vestiaire Collective as the sender on the invoice. At no point was I told I would have to pay for it but that’s a Vestiaire issue. I will dispute the invoice with UPS and let them know they need to look for payment from the company that shipped it with whom they have a contract. I will let you know what happens when I have an update.

Has anyone else been finding it almost impossible to have an item approved for listing these days?

My items are all designer and at a higher price point, but I have very clear photos of all the authenticity markings for every piece, and most of them come with the certificate and receipt matching the serial number. Recently, almost everything I submit for listing is rejected. Sometimes it helps if I go to the chat and talk to a representative what else they need, but it takes 3-4 days of back and forth and they ask for the exact same photos that I already submitted. Sometimes they ask more than once for the same photo I have already submitted to them in the chat (ex: receipt, serial number) and then it’s still a 50/50 chance if it will be approved or not. I really can’t discern a difference among the items that they will approve for listing versus the items they will not.

I just don’t understand what they are looking for because when I look at other listings on the site a lot of them have very few photos at all. I wonder if it is just random if something is approved; maybe I would be better off not wasting my time with the chat and just trying to submit each item 2 or 3 times and if they do not accept it, then just move on?
Really? I haven’t had problems (knock the wood), are your jewelries and watches?

UPS has a contract with Vestiaire, I would send UPS a letter letting them know that you have NOT entered any contract with them, they should get the money from Vestiaire who is their partner and issued the shipping label, then Vestiaire can get the money back from the buyer who refused to accept the parcel.

I made the mistake of paying once, Vestaire said they would refund me, they did not, next time it happened, I let them know that I am not in a contract with them, I used the label that was issued to me by Vestaire, if they send me another bill, I would happily go to small claims court as I have no contract with UPS, they didn't send another bill. It is another reason why the direct shipping is a massive problem
I totally agree with what you said, it’s just in a case like this, I would pay it since VC promised would refund, sometimes, do the right thing may not worth it.

Hi everyone, what a wealth of knowledge and experience this thread is! Personally so far I have only ever had positive experiences buying and selling on Vestiare (Chanel, YSL mainly). I have however, never bought fine jewellery there. Does anyone have positive or negative experiences in that to share in particular? Was looking at these Boucheron earrings, but am not sure if I have to stomach to go for it... (please tell me if not appropriate for this thread!)

I wouldn't, as they promised me that once, when I wanted the money back they closed the chat and I never got it back. The problem is that in chat or in email you get bounced from one person to the next, they promise you something, then apparently the "agent made a mistake"

As I mentioned before, I once paid as VC said they would refund me, apparently UPS couldn't find the address apparently not valid, a quick google search showed the address was valid, VC did not refund me, they just closed the chat. N, so when it happened again, I returned the invoice to UPS, with a clear mention that I used the label their contractual partner issued, that their contract is with Vestiaire and not with me, I had no choice but using the label their contractual partner issued, therefore I am not under any obligation to pay, if they disagree they can send me a copy of my contract with them, if they don't do this but keep on billing me, I consider it fraudulent and will treat it like that.

UPS knows you don't have a contract with them, they are just trying it on, as apparently in their contract with Vestiaire (like in most of their other business contracts) returns are included.

You can get lucky, personally I would recommend to pay with a credit card and as soon as you get the item have checked by a reputable jewellery store as especially with small stones they do not check for flaws or clarity and their verification seems to be hit and miss. I understand that getting an independent 3rd party verification is an added expense, but less expensive than ending up with a fake. In case you pay with a credit card, it will take a while to get your money back, but if you can show them that what you got was not what you bought. the 72 hours Vestiaire gives you doesn't apply to your credit card company doing a charge back.

I don't want to talk Vestiaire down, I bought some really amazing items through them, but their verification is hit and miss, I had to return items (they didn't want to take them back as it went through their verification, I have a rather low opinion of their "in house experts" and trust an independent 3rd party authentication more) on the other hand, they flagged items I bought as having a "small problem" when it was clear the item was new and the crease was from the item being folded. I am not sure if they roll the dice or it depends on their mood.

What shocked me the most was that when I forced a return through my CC company as a 3rd party authentication said the item is definitely not authentic and gave all the reasons (including that such a serial number doesn't fit the item, stitching, etc.) I saw it listed again with the same pictures but as shipped directly from Vestiaire with verification and speed shipping. So I won't buy anything that they list, the risk seems to be a bit high.

I think you can buy great items, as long as you are careful, use a credit card, and if you have the slightest doubt have it authenticated again by a reputable independent authentication service.

Thank you for your thoughts! Can only agree with your thinking. I don't particularly want to talk down VC either as it's been a useful platform for me to occasionally sell out of my closet and I have found an occasional inexpensive gem. However it is really unbelievable that they would relist a proven fake item!!! It's stories like yours which make me apprehensive about buying anything of substantial value from there.

Very good idea to use an authentication service for peace of mind. It's indeed a very small price to pay or I don't think I would sleep well at night 😂 To my own embarrassment I actually went on Boucheron's website after my former post and noticed the Small model of the Boheme earrings have many more "beads" than the pictures from the seller. The amount of beads on the sellers pictures actually corresponds to that of the XS model even though the description states it's the Small model. Probably an honest typo, but indeed explains why the price was so good...

Hi can’t believe it’s happened to me ? Sold very expensive bag on vestiaire collective, printed and used dhl prepaid label ,posted package through dhl parcel shop and 2 days later package back to me in very light box 📦 l refused accepting and open box and box was empty my chanel bag it’s gone . So now no money or bag . Is it true that Vestiaire Collective all packages fully insured and if you you use they label provided will be fully compensated?

I am so frustrated with VC. I sold a Cartier necklace and included certificate of authenticity and reciept. I get a message that I had the chain altered and they're going to message the buyer to see if they still want the item . This is completely bs as I haven't altered it in any way. I don't know whom they've hired to do these authentications but I don't think they're very experienced at all.

That's horrible! was it really Vestiaire's shipping label? and why would it returned back to you before delivered to Vestiaire (I assume it would be ship to VC to authenticate before ship to the buyer since you said it was very expensive?), or was it a direct sale that was shipping to the buyer directly?
