Venting - TERRIBLE service at Saks Fifth Ave

My experiences with saks have been pretty good, but I must admit any time I returned an online purchase, it took FOREVER to get my card credited back. Even if there ws no problem with the item. Although, any time I returned the online purchase in-stoe, they just gave me a refund immediately no problem. Sorry you had to deal with all this!

I have a question about what customer service at Saks is like...

This past Feb I bought a MbMJ bag at my local Saks in Mclean, VA. A couple weeks ago I noticed a stain on the strap. I didn't recall spilling anything on it...It's not my style to not take good care of my bags. Then I noticed the same stain was on another strap and then tonight I noticed it was on another strap. The thing about the stain is that it feels hard so I finally figured out I didn't spill anything but that it must be fabric glue or something like. I do realize it's been a few months but do you think they'll take it back?

The bag was $140 which in my book is not money to just be thrown away.

It's been too long and it's going to be tough to prove it was there when you purchased it. If you have your receipt and all tags, you might be able to get a store credit. And you'd have to be super nice with the SA.

I went today and they returned the money to my card no problem. Because so much time had elapsed a manager needed to be called to do the transaction. I explained the issue and was out of there in less than 10 minutes. I had the receipt and the tag. Considering their return policy I was pleasantly surprised by the outcome.

Good for you. Most of the time it depend on the individual SA or Manager, some are just mean spirited.

I popped into Saks Boston today to take a look at the sale handbags - they had two gorgeous Valentino jeweled bags, but upon looking at them closer, both had missing jewels!! I couldn't believe they were still on the shelves. Very disappointing. Just because something is on sale, doesn't mean they can sell it defective.

That's interesting. Just because it's on sale shouldn't mean it's damaged.

My first Saks experience, ordered online the night of the 3rd. They finally processed it, but still no reply when shipping it. Two chats w/their online help and still no answers. I'm not too pleased w/their service. If they need more help over the holidays then they need to staff for it.

wow, thanks for posting that.
Just confirmed my fears in getting that bag.

I was dying to get that bag but what stopped me was my mum saying "well, what if happens if some of the jewels fall off because you know its inevitable with those types of bags..." and its worse since im in Aus and there wont be any Valentino store/office here to turn to if things go wrong!

I know! I love that bag so much - but it's one thing if the jewels fall off later on...(I'm sure Valentino would gladly fix that) but it's another thing when you buy it with missing jewels and they're still being sold at Saks of all places...I would expect that of TJ Maxx or a discount store, but Saks?

I agree!! Sale items should not be damaged - a few years back I ordered a Chloe bag on sale from Saks, it came with slight wear and a damage, and the SA said it should have never been sold like that...yet it was.

I would expect full price bags to be pristine. Not necessarily sale ones.

I disagree. Unless the damage/imperfection is disclosed (which is probably more important for an online sale than an in-store sale where you can physically examine the item), I don't see why "sale" = "ok for damage." I certainly don't go to a store thinking that items on sale are there because they've been damaged.

While I wouldn't be expecting 'damaged goods', I wouldn't be aghast if I received something less than pristine perfect either. I would probably assume that may have been the reason for the markdown in the first place. That is the problem with buying sight unseen from a retailer, sale item or full price. They use stock photos so you never know what the actual bag really looks like. If I receive something that is less than I expected I simply return it. That is simply the chance I take when shopping for bargains online.
