I totally agree with Swanky.

yes! I'd definitely go down in clarity FOR SURE, even if you slide down to a VS2 you WILL NOT see any imperfections w/ your eye. Heck, I'd even go for a slightly bigger stone w/ SI1 clarity as you still won't see any inclusions.
I'd also look for F or G color stones.
Are you wanting to get another round? Just make sure the cut is perfect, all else will fall into place:D

We were going to wait until our 10th but DH got excited and did it this past Christmas:love:

I agree also, I would TOTALLY drop on clarity. I tend to believe that anything VS1 or higher is just overkill because no one else will ever know or see it and personally, I like the character my stone, an SI2, has. I can ID it under a loupe without any question, and it looks like it's a stone that's got personality, while not being noticeable as anyhting more than perfect.

For the setting Id get somethign that matches your wedding band so that you can still wear your original wedding band with your new E-ring.

i personally think the setting makes the diamond center seem small. Why not try just a more simple 6 prong setting?

a change from d to f and vvs1 to vvs2 wont make much of a difference.. maybe f vs1/vs2 then you can get a ~1.5.

thanks..i thought about changing the setting...but this will be my 3rd time if i do it again?? The first setting had two simple hearts next to it..my DH picked it out and it looked kinda childish and we had the hardest time finding a matching band. I saw this setting and liked it then..but now I wanna change and get an upgrade on the center stone too.

But at the same time, I'm pretty sentimental and would like to keep the first diamond he picked out himself, which I think he did good based on the quality, which I definitely appreciate.

Do u guys know what setting, pave, halo or cushion setting looks the best, in terms or making the center stone look bigger than how it is now?? thx (btw, i don't really know the difference betwee, pave, halo and cushion...just recently learned bc of you ladies)

:) hee hee..thanx.

any input is appreciated

your stone would appear larger if you did a halo around it.

cushion is a stone shape
pave is teeny little diamonds set closely together
halo is when stones wrap around a larger center stone, like I pictured above.

Hey Pwecious_323,
I kept my original E-Ring which is a 1.08 F VVS1 Round Brilliant because like yourself, I felt that it was a good quality diamond and had too much sentimental value tied to it! :tender:Maybe you can use yours for other jewelery or reset it as a RHR in future too?

My new ring was supposed to be a 5 year Anniversary Present but we found what we wanted 6 months too early!
I started off wanting a 2Ct+ Diamond with similar specs. It is true what they say that as the Diamond gets larger, the body of colour is more evident, and the "Flaws" are more easily spotted! My current 3.01Ct diamond is also F colour, but from certain lighting, I swear I can detect more "Yellow" from the sides (The DH thinks I am totally nutz of course!)! So for the same reasons, I wouldn't want to go below VS2 for clarity as well.
I'd suggest that if you are used to wearing an "E" Colour, not to go further than a F/G. Clarity wise....Use a loupe. If you can even find the flaws in a VS2 Diamond to begin with (Supposedly 1 in every 100 people with an untrained eye can do so without the help of a loupe!), decide whether or not those bug you. If it does, go up a grade and so on....That's my way of finding a stone that is both 'eye' and 'mind' clean!

Since an upgrade isn't an upgrade without a change in SIZE.....Try this little program from Bluenile!

I had fun with it, and it gave me some perspective since we chose the same shape for the new Ring. The difference from 1-1.5Ct is frankly not going to be very easy to notice visually.
DSS sets in pretty soon IMO, so if all you want is a little change....Perhaps keep that top grade rock you already have, and maybe reset it into the lovely style Swanky suggested until you are all ready to make a more drastic decision? :flowers:

IMO your stone looks amazing. i would just upgrade to a more dainty/modern looking setting. i could almost guarantee, if you do that, your diamond would already look larger- even more beautiful. i think it's your setting that is making it look small.

but if you want a larger stone, by all means go for it!

^ each store has a different policy so i am not sure if they will buy it back from you. perhaps you could work something out with them since you're still going to do business with them.
