Upgrade Ering or Other fab purchase?

I have 3 rolexes, 2 J12s, 2 Cartier watches - imagine the upgrade I could have if I didn't do watches - LOL! But, on a positive note, at least rolexes hold value. And don't even get me started on Vuitton. But I like variety. OMG - I didn't mention my 3 Love bracelets. I'd still rather have all those than a 2 carat ring. But.... maybe someday, I'll sell some stuff and upgrade. Now, I'm occupying my mind with a small Vuitton purchase before increase and maybe a Pandora! But I've been thinking and obsessing over it for a month. OP - I still suggest to give your plan some serious thought to be sure.

This is me! Bags as well. I love that I have the gorgeous VCA and Cartier. My Chanel J12 never gets used. That could be gone.

Do you ever wear all of your jewelry and then feel like your e ring pales in compairision with your other things?
I only want an E ring that holds up to my other jewelry, not to keep up with the Jones or anyone else, Haha.

I think it all depends on what you like. For me, I know I will likely never upgrade my e-ring because it's more about the sentiment than increasing the stone size, so I would probably buy other jewelry or fashion items. But, for others, the e-ring sizing does matter on top of the sentiment. If that is the case, it's best to channel your money that way one time so you don't have to keep upgrading, IMO.

I forget, why couldn't you do a halo? If the setting is high enough, it shouldn't have a problem stacking? Then you could keep your current stone but make it stand out more?

I originally wanted a halo and went to many many jewelry stores. they would not Halo my J stone. They were rude about it. Then I found a few that said no problem! But I recently have fallen in love with the classic Tiffany solitare. it is so clean looking and you can wear any band with it.
As you can see I change my mind like crazy. I have ring ADD. I wan't them all! LOL.

Now I am even more confused and this is why I always buy other jewelry than wedding stuff, because I change like the wind!

My opinion is that you won't see that much of a visible difference betweent 1.15 and 1.5. Remember, there's also the "shrinkage" factor. I had a 1.2 ct before my 2.0 ct. I didn't really notice that much of a difference between the 1.2 and my sister's 1.5.

Now that I've had the 2.0 ct for a while, it no longer seems as "big" to me as it used to. My vote would be to upgrade to the 2.0 ct and skip the 1.5.

I don't regret the VCA pieces at all or the Cartier, except for the plain love ring, I do regret the Ippolita as well!

The thing is I do not wear the VCA stuff. I know I know. I save it, for when, IDK.
I just emailed the stone person , asking for 1.75-2 carats. See what they have. I agree with the burning a hole in my pocket comments. LOL.
I really think I will be happy with a 1.5, but I do wish it was closer to 2 carats. Ahh confused again!
wear your gorgeous VCA! don't save it!

or...if you want you can send your VCA to me and i'll get some decent cost/wear out of it for you:graucho: hehe

This is true! My 1.5 looked huge when I first got it!

I do that too. I have one expensive piece I STILL haven't worn! I have to break it out!!

I'm kind of the same. I'd never trade in the ring DH gave me originally, no matter what, for sentimental reasons alone. Luckily, DH knew that about me and got me as nice of a ring as he could afford. Actually, he could've never afforded it, had his dear parents not helped him. :p

Why not wait and get an amazing ring for your fifth or tenth anniversary? Unless you really hate your E-ring, I'd keep it for now. At some point, even your two carat might not be big enough! :p Get rid of the stuff you don't use (your Chanel watch for instance) and put it towards either a bigger rock in the future or some other piece you're lusting over now. GL with your decision!

You ladies are awesome!

I did find a 1.71. Having her check the stone for me.
i am just worried because diamonds are going upppppp!
I like my ering accually. I just feel it should be bigger because of my other jewelry has much much more monitary value. Does this make sense? LOL.

I think you should get the biggest you can afford that is still a great stone. Sell whatever you can sell that you don't wear, why save what you won't use?

Honestly? no. You are not a awalking dollar sign. This is not a good reason to upgrade. You said you like what you have. Keep it - all of it & enjoy it.

Hell, if I took everything I bought over that last year & tallied it up, sur e I could have bought someting bigger, but so what? That's destructive thinking.

Agree.

If you are looking to "keep up" with your other items then it's not a reason to upgrade. Especially if you are happy with it and like it.

I can see "diamond shrinkage" written all over your face already! LOL!
If you can find a great stone, just under 2 tcw, look into it. Remember an excellent/ideal cut will hide other imperfections (color/clarity). If you are going to all this trouble and time make it worth your while. I made the same mistake with my studs...luckily I could upgrade, and I did 3 times. I'm finally happy now...but it took 2 years.
Oh, and wear your gorgeous VCA!!!
