I think 1.5 is a perfect size for me. As long as my diamond performs well and is of quality, I will be happy with 1.5. I never wanted a 2 carat untill this thread . LOL

Don't worry, I have ring ADD too and want all styles of rings possible. I want a beautiful OEC set in a vintage style setting, I want a ring with a halo setting, and a big, brilliant plain solitaire. Soooo, while I was looking at e-rings, I drove my guy mad. He kept thinking each style that I liked was a passing fancy and that I'd "tire" of one style and move to the next, but I honestly love them all! Every style is beautiful and unique in their own way and have their own pros and cons.

Maybe take a break from looking at rings and come back later; perhaps a new perspective is in order. If you decide to get a 1.5 ct solitaire but really do want a halo later, you can always reset your stone. Whatever you pick is not going to be completely permanent! The ladies on TPF are a great example - many end up resetting their stones after a while. And, if you do acquire a bunch of stacking rings, you can always stack them together and wear them on your right hand after you halo your e-ring. OR, instead of upgrading, you can get a halo RHR so you can have both, but I kind of agree that with all your fabulous jewelry, your e-ring should take some of the spotlight so I'd go with upgrading instead of diverting your funds to other projects.

If it were me I would look in the 1.75-1.90 carat weight range. More substantial then your 1.15 but under the 2 carat money mark. I think something in this carat weight would satisfy any "shrinkage problem" down the road. LOL!
Keep us posted!

Honestly, sounds like $ is burning a hole. . . I wouldn't buy anything right now.
If you aren't POSITIVE, then you shouldn't buy.

I agree with Swanky. It sounds like you're looking to buy something just to buy something. I've been there before and its never as satisfying as when there is something that I obsess over and know without a doubt that I want it before purchasing. I find that the things that I'm happiest with tend to sneak up on me when I'm not looking to spend money and then I just can't resist them.

But then I can't get anything else for a while, will I want a 2 carat soon?

Wants lots of things > funds. LOL

If it were me, I'd wait to upgrade to what I ultimately wanted. If you believe that you're not going to be satisfied with a 1.5, why buy it?

I've had my ultimate holly grail diamond for a number of years now, and I've never looked back. But, I made mistakes along the way in thinking I'd be satisfied with less.........I wasn't. :-(

I think skyqueen and acrowcounted gave the best advice on this thread! If you truly want an upgrade NOW - listen to skyqueen! I can relate to acrowcounted - many times I'm just itching to buy something. Perhaps retail therapy?! Slow down and think about it some more. There are so many items that I contemplated such as a titanium J12. I'm so glad I passed on them. Would have been a huge mistake.

How about waiting until you can get the 2 CT?

I agree. Is there a significant visible size difference between your 1.15 and the 1.5? I would just save the money up a little longer and get the 2 carat since that would be more of a visible size difference. I also liked the idea of resetting your current diamond into the Tiffany setting until you upgrade to the 2 carat

Oh and I really only wanted the upgrade after hubby bought me a cabinet for jewelry and 2 Tiffany boxes and we were setting it up.

He pointed it out that I could of had a major E Ring if it were not for all of the other jewelry purchases this year,a friend had said something simular. She asked why did I buy VCA that no one notices and not put it into my E ring. It made me think I was off in priorities and depressed.

Don't be depressed. The GREAT thing about VCA that I've learned lately is that it totally holds it's value (thanks to their REPEATED annoying price increases!) so it's actually not hard to get what you paid for it back a year later on ebay... or at least 80% if you really wanted to trade it in.

I kind of wish I'd layed off the ippolita and sydney evan a bit this year... maybe even my LOVE if I'd really thought about it... and put it towards the ring - but I'm going to try to not think about it an enjoy them instead! :)

I don't regret the VCA pieces at all or the Cartier, except for the plain love ring, I do regret the Ippolita as well!

The thing is I do not wear the VCA stuff. I know I know. I save it, for when, IDK.
I just emailed the stone person , asking for 1.75-2 carats. See what they have. I agree with the burning a hole in my pocket comments. LOL.
I really think I will be happy with a 1.5, but I do wish it was closer to 2 carats. Ahh confused again!

Can you sell the other jewelry to put towards the upgrade?

I have 3 rolexes, 2 J12s, 2 Cartier watches - imagine the upgrade I could have if I didn't do watches - LOL! But, on a positive note, at least rolexes hold value. And don't even get me started on Vuitton. But I like variety. OMG - I didn't mention my 3 Love bracelets. I'd still rather have all those than a 2 carat ring. But.... maybe someday, I'll sell some stuff and upgrade. Now, I'm occupying my mind with a small Vuitton purchase before increase and maybe a Pandora! But I've been thinking and obsessing over it for a month. OP - I still suggest to give your plan some serious thought to be sure.
