Mrs O., Thank you! I did the same thing with my Zebra Pegasus shawl with a vintage bracelet that had small prong set stones. I put the shawl in my drawer and left it there. I will have to borrow a friend's jeweler's mask and see what I can do.

But, Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

You can do it EB! Zebra is challenging depending where you snagged it. Since some of the stripes are wide, I struggled to find the right directions because there were fewer clues as to wear I was lining it up.

And I was thinking a jeweler's mask would be the perfect thing to wear for this, I don't wear readers yet but I think it would be easier with a clear view!

THANK YOU SO MUCH, MrsO! I made a minor snag on my CHMC near the tag just as I was inspecting the label. Boohoo! I'll give this a try although I'm not very good with needles but it's worth a try.

:woohoo::woohoo:
You are really good with your hands! I attempted way before you posted the tutorial but without much success. Will find time to give it another try, thanks for the inspiration!

Good luck! I do have some needlepoint and sewing experience but it was mostly just the determination to save my first shawl!!

Awesome thread! (oh the puns)

Thank you MrsOwen this should be some sort of sticky :ty:
Thanks sew much :p

Thank you for posting this in such detail! I agree that this should be a sticky.

Definitely sticky-worthy!

Thank you so much for this. My ELeK is beyond help (my cat's claws not only snagged it but made two holes!) but there a couple of other shawls that might benefit.

This is a VERY helpful tutorial, MrsOwen3. Thank you for taking the time to post it!! :flowers:

Maybe it can go to the reference section at some point? You guys are so welcome!

Amber, my ELeK was from a consignment shop and has two small holes as well. Someday I will send it out for reweaving. Based on this snag practice, I think they remove threads from other parts of the shawl and weave the new threads in. If I ever find a total wreck of a shawl in a consignment shop, I might experiment. I like this kind of stuff in the evenings, it keeps my hands busy!

This was just wonderful and your pictures were great! I have been down this road myself and it isn't fun, but at least there is great satisfaction at the end of the process. I bought a preloved shawl and knew that it had a pull when I bought it. After I received it, I thought I would give it a try, but told myself that if it didn't work, the pull would never show anyway. I had pretty good success and would say that it is 90% better. I have been very lucky on the whole and have not had to do this on any other shawl. I practice what I call "avoidance therapy," which mainly consists of keeping the cashmere shawls and scarves away from offenders like jewelry with prongs.

I've done this with one of my shawls that had a small pull. I chickened out before I got it completely fixed, because it seemed like I was making the pull longer every time I'd try to pick up the thread upstream from the loop. It helps a LOT to see the repair in photos and stages, so I might get the courage to try again. Thank you SO MUCH for taking the time to post these photos and instructions.

Mrs O, this was very helpful and the step by step directions were easy to follow. No pulls yet on my GMs but if it ever happens I will try your tips. Thank you for posting this tutorial [emoji1]

MrsOwen3, thank you so much - your timing is absolutely perfect in posting this! I bought two GMs that I had been wishing and wishing for at the last Paris sale. Both have snags, one is pretty bad. But I know others who have been able to pull them out as you have done, so I plunged ahead. From time to time I wonder if I would have done so if I were not in the frenzied sale environment!!

Anyway, I will use your tutorial to try to mend my new GMs - and I will thank you every step of the way!!
