has anyone ever tried negotiating with Portero?

Call their 1800 # and ask for at least 10% off. It depends on how long the item has been listed without an interested buyer and whether the item is a unique/hiighly coveted piece. I seem to remember that others have negotiated some discount (I think no more than 10% though) in past purchases. Also, there are other posts that show mixed reviews from members of tPf. HTH!

They give you a 10% off code if you sign up for the newsletter anyway - not much of a deal IMO. I've tried asking them about older stock numerous times, etc & just went ignored.
Not impressed :nono:

Ahhh ok, I just found out this about Portero:

People list with them, but sellers' identities are kept secret; it's part of their agreement. They don't have the inventory. Sellers create their own listings, but under the Portero name. Portero even supplies shipping labels that imply that it left their warehouse. It's terribly disconcerting, as one wonders how they authenticate their stuff.

They had a Kelly listed earlier this year that I was interested in, contacted them and they said I could come up to see the bag. They're very close to where I live. So they must have some inventory there given their willingness to have me drop by.

You know, I've wondered about this because I have seen the same exact listings on Portero and Malleries. You're right, it would call into question their ability to authenticate these items.

They do have some inventory and with big items like birkins and kellys they definelyhave the item and i know because i was interested in a hermes bag and i dont live close by but they told me that they are getting bag and once they have it they will let me know what condition the bag is in and i googled and they have good responses and just like many other resellers they use more than one platform to sell their bags to get more exposure......if you see this is true for many resellers. It is always a good idea to authenticate on tpf i guess. they do stand by their product so far never heard any negative response.
