Hi ladies,

Long story short, I was going through a very stressful time and made an impulse bag buy in Paris over Christmas and got home and had slight remorse. I still never used it. It's a rainbow Sunset Bolide. I just quit my job to take time off and get myself back together and now am thinking it might be a good idea to sell it. I actually do love the bag but it's not the most practical.

Questions:

-Where would be the best place to "resell" something that is actually brand new? Commissions, trustworthiness, etc. (New York would be great)
-Do you think something like this, -that isn't a Birkin or Kelly and won't appeal to just anyone- will go up in value, hold, or decrease?

Thank you so much.

What did you decide to do with this? Esp since you purchased at Paris prices, surely the offers you’ve gotten on this bag would make you a nice little profit?

Apologies, I am in London.
I'm based in London So I'm quite au-fait with London based re-sellers of vintage/used Hermes (being too mean to pay import tax from the big U.S resale sights like Fashionfile, Rebag and Therealreal etc )
I can only speak as a purchaser because I've never actually sold Hermes bags so I cant say who would give you the best returns.
Companies that will offer you a buyout price on the spot are Xpres, Designer Exchange and Bagista.
I would assume you would be offered roughly 50% of the price they sell them for so be prepared for that.
Another option is to sell at Auction..you would probably get a better return that way.
In London Chiswick Auctions have about 3 luxury bag and accessories sales each year.. go to their website and email their handbag specialist Popsi Kundi (I may have mis-spelled that but you will find the details on their site)
There is also Bonhams-They too have Luxury Bag and accessories sales based in Knightsbridge from memory their handbag specialist is named Meg but I cant remember her last name.
My advice..bearing in mind as previously stated I haven't actually SOLD bags at auction or via resellers (though I have sold designer clothing) is that if you don't need the cash now try the auction route.
They should give you a realistic estimate based on recent sales figures and many bags ( i know having missed out on several) go way over the lower estimate.
I would AVOID sites like Ebay and Vestiare Collective.
Good luck!

All I can say is, do NOT sell on TheRealReal. I am in the midst of a horrendous experience with them. It is literally the worst, most irritating customer service experience of my life. I am trying to sell a virtually new Evie TPM in Rouge de Coeur because I just couldn't get comfortable with the color. Long story short, I dropped the bag off (along with some Jimmy Choo boots) at one of their stores in April. It never appeared on my account and was "in process" for months. They essentially lost the bag. It has taken me weeks of unbelieveably frustrating "communication" with their "customer service" "people" (basically me sending emails and getting what seem like AI generated responses in return). Everything is always "we are looking into it and it will be another 7-10 business days." They recently claimed they have located the bag (THREE months later) and it will be "another 7-10 business days" for them to authenicate and post the the bag. It hasn't appeared in any way shape or form on my account so I have my doubts that it has magically appeared. I'm ready to pull my hair out. DO NOT CONSIGN HIGH VALUE ITEMS LIKE HERMES BAGS ON THEREALREAL!!!

Really detailed response! Just to add I’ve sold with Bagista and they do consignment not just buyout and offer you a better price than auctions.

I have consigned mine and have had a really great experience - great service, quick sale, money received promptly so that’s a 5 star from me!

They also have a physical store in Knightsbridge which is a definite plus too
There's also another store called Loop Generation in Brompton Cross who take 35% commission on consignment..someone mentioned them to me today

I don't know if you're still looking but I've bought, part exchanged, sold directly and sold on consignment with Xupes. I think, not entirely sure that the consignment was 25% plus VAT (so worked out 30% in total if memory serves me correctly). The lady to speak to is Fiona, she's really lovely and so helpful, but to be honest everyone I've dealt with there was great. DH purchased a watch at one point too. No connection to me, we've just used them quite a few times over the past four or five years.
