Trusted Hermes Reseller Discussion Thread

This seems to be an old thread, and I have a question about the current reseller market. I bought a Birkin on ebay that was just as described, pristine, but I paid a large premium over the cost in an Hermes boutique. I want a Kelly, but wonder if this craziness with thousands over new, for a bag in excellent or nwot condition. If this is just the way it is, I guess I'll just suck it up and over pay. Any comments would be appreciated! FYI, the new authentication with purchases from Ebay makes me feel very comfortable buying.

Right now it seems the inventories in many of the H boutiques are rather limited especially for the
Birkin & for several sizes of the Kelly... the 25 & 28 seem to be very desirable now & hence the
over the top prices
If you were able to get the bag that you really wanted without a huge pre-spend at your local H store
you likely did OK...and likely for the Birkin there is a wait list as well as the Kelly.. the craze
for these bags is incredible & what people are willing to pay is incredible as well...
As far as authentication goes, many of us prefer to use the service that Bababebi offers for
authentication..

I was browsing on The RealReal and came across this: https://www.therealreal.com/product...wls/hermes-into-the-canadian-silk-scarf-b90pw

I really love this color way, and would love to have it. But not at this price. It looks like the value of this scarf has been pushed up, or at least The RealReal is trying to do it.

Please do be careful shopping at TheRealReal as I have recently had a very disappointing FakeFake scarf experience with them.

How irritating! Did they own up to it?
Nope! They had me mail it back to them to be inspected and they merely doubled down on their false authentication and then mailed it back to me without an explanation. I had to call them and sit on hold for an hour to ask them why I received a box with an inauthentic scarf mailed back to me without any correspondence included. Customer service checked their records and told me that they had determined that the scarf was authentic. Case closed. No correspondence, no refund, not even a credit or discussion offered. I know that the scarf is not authentic as I have the same scarf in a different colorway that I personally purchased from Hermès to which I compared it. There were several irregularities that I pointed out to TheRealReal’s “authentication team” in a letter I sent them with the returned scarf but they did not respond to my letter.

After several years of buying from and selling to TheRealReal, I will no longer do business with them. Good luck…and caveat emptor. Xx

Ugh I’m so sorry that happened. I’ve only ever bought one H thing from TRR and it was real (and not
an exorbitant price.) I tend to buy more RTR from them and always stuff that is new with tags.

I used to sell a lot more with them but mostly contemporary clothing.
Their consignment terms aren’t great anymore so I’m trying other sites like Thredup. I’ve pared down my bag and accessories collection so really the only things exiting my closet these days are clothes that I will no longer wear to the office.

Thank you. Live and learn. I am glad you had a good buying experience. And now I’ve learned from you, wise one, to only buy NWT! I have only had great selling experiences with TheRealReal but now after the fake scarf I am done with them.

I have tried Thredup and I love their concept and the ease of it but their processing times take months and the payout is literally nickels on the dollar. Let me know your experience! Lately I sold my last bits and pieces to local brick and mortar consignment shops in my area which, while more time consuming, worked out fine. But - for bags I almost always sell to Yoogis Closet as their offers are higher than FP’s and I just find them so pleasant to deal with.

It has been fun chatting resale with you, Renee! Take care! Xx

Just to leave a message here so that everyone knows this instagram scammer. She sold me a Chanel Vintage Diana bag on IG and her name is x from Philippines. Her IG name was ___divascloset___, after the transaction which she wanted bank transfer, she lured me into buying more bags i.e. Hermes (her IG page has a lot of H bags), she send me an invalid 14 character EMS tracking number 2 days later after I paid for the bag. When I confronted her why was the EMS number 14 character and not 13 character (usually EMS is 13 character), she kicked me out of the follower list (her ig accoung is "private") and blocked me. I have made a police report on this. She has since changed her IG name to d__vas__closet__, a day later it became d.vas_cl0s3t, and now __d.vas_cl0s3t__.

As she features mostly Hermes bag in her IG, I urge all purseforum Bag lovers to BEWARE of this seller and only purchase with sellers who take paypal, no matter how much you want the bag or how well priced the bag is. I learnt a painful lesson, just hope to share my experience.
This same scammer I encountered, from Philippines! She has changed her Instagram account name to https://instagram.com/bella_bagboutique/ and most recently changed it again to https://www.instagram.com/your__dream__bag__/. Took my money and blocked me on Instagram and her WhatsApp number.

I have been reporting her daily to Instagram and no actions has been taken so far!

I had dealt with the owner of Luxlexicon many years back when she was selling fm home . Yes, she’s not what u will call an easy going and friendly seller. Todate, She has pretty much made it big, (going to retire, has expensive taste source, from her interviews ), and she herself has moved away fm the task of selling. Her staffs r delegated with the job to deal with most of the buyers to buy consign or sell. She has an impressive collection of bags and it u find something u like from the shop, no bargaining , u can buy the bag. Their bags r usu well kept and u can feel safe to consign yr bags there too. No frills.

Hi, dear ladies! I finally decided to come out of the reading mode and ask for your valuable advice. I'm considering (finally!!!) buying my first ever holy grail (for me) vintage Kelly box leather with GHW. As this is a major purchase for me, I've been saving for a long time, I want to be sure about the price and the best place to search for. I live in Tbilisi, Georgia. It's a small country in Caucasus, Former Soviet Union. So, as you may consider there are no consignment stores or Hermes boutiques. Please reply, as you all seem so educated in Hermes field. Thank you in advance!

First, I would have the bag authenticated by Bababebi once you make the decision to make the purchase.
Since it is a vintage bag a couple of thoughts... what is the condition & has there been any work done
on the bag (like repainting) that should be taken into consideration when pricing.
Make sure your reseller has a good reputation & will be candid about any questions you have (corner wear,
inside, handle, etc)
Clear IMAGES are essential..
What is the return policy of the seller you are making the purchase from?
I would do your due diligence with auction houses & resellers for price guidelines & condition.
Hermes spa can bring bags back to life to a certain extent but not if the bag has been conditioned
elsewhere .
Vintage box calf is one of my favorites.. I especially love the patina the Kelly develops over time
& this is for me one of the best bags around.. Timeless, chic & very stylish.

Thank you very much for your prompt and detailed reply. Can you advise me on some reputable sellers as well specializing in vintage Hermes? There are many of them mentioned in the thread but 2-3 would be enough. I'm definitely considering Bababebi as a place to go for peace of mind and authentication process.

Part of the fun is exploring the list of resellers that are mentioned on Tpf from various members that
have had positive experiences...

Hey Guys! I just used Rebag for my Hapi bracelet and got an instant quote price (where I just input the style and condition and out popped a price without them even knowing the color of my bracelet). Is it possible I would get more when they see my bracelet or is that instant quote price the max I would get?

The instant quote is the max price. Once Rebag receives the item, they will evaluate it and determine the final sale price which could be adjusted down if they see any defects not described.
