Hello, ladies.
Have anybody ever purchased from ebay seller: tiffanysco. ? She is selling some luxury handbags and I’m eyeing on her Hermes one. Please share your experience if you have purchased from her before. Thank you.

One has to do their due diligence when buying from a reseller & after knowing how bags are "touched up"
I ask the question without any hesitation..
Shoe polish & "black" magic marker can be a resellers best friend..one of the many tricks of their trade
Black magic marker would never be used, it's a different gloss and looks cheap, specific high end shoe polish will do the job and no one would be the wiser. We all need to do our due diligence with all sellers, even the most well known top drawer resellers don't always post all the pictures that we would ask of other sellers because we just assume because they're asking top dollar and who they are that what is being listed as brand new actually is.

This just doesn't go for color touch ups but also the bag structure, bags are often stuffed for perfect photographic accuracy of a new bags shape if it's been stretched out of shape (yes some bags listed as new have been used that much). I was told one memorable story by multiple Hermes employees about a crocodile birkin that was purchased from an Hermes boutique by someone known (the bag was on display in the store so they had to sell it to this person and couldn't say no as they would do with anyone they know is a reseller). This reseller was subsequently seen by Hermes employees using the bag in the boutique and I'm told the bag was overly stuffed to the point of being visibly stretched out (stretched croc is not pretty) and then weeks later Hermes management saw the bag listed for sale online as new. And as luck would have it, the gal who bought this bag from the reseller went into Hermes in tears because she'd been sold a well used croc birkin as new (she said she paid double retail) and the reseller refused a return, so the gal asked the boutique for help. Of course she was told there was nothing they could do.

Honestly this has been going on for as long as any of us have been in the game. Detailed pictures are de rigueur if we're spending that much money and honestly for me if a seller won't pony up the pictures I need, then I don't buy. So a little scratch here or there or a slightly worn corner is OK for me, it's the bigger problems that some are so expert at covering up that for me are the bigger problem.

The bottom line is, one has to do their due diligence when buying from a reseller & don't think for a moment
that resellers don't have a bag of tricks they resort to when making a sale, including magic markers for corner wear
as well as taking a bag to a local shoe repair for a clean up & polish. I've seen it on more than one occasion especially on black box leather.
And while a scratch or worn corner may be OK for you , when a bag is described as new, that's not what a buyer
expects as we have seen from many instances documented here on tPF.
Pictures are worth a thousand words & if a reseller won't provide those details that a buyer might ask,
it is a RED FLAG & should send a potential buyer to think twice & I feel the same about a wire transfer as well
Not all resellers disclose all the details & the best of the best have been known to miss a detail or two
And for inexperienced buyers who are anxious to purchase a bag as opposed to being on a wait list, they don't know
what to ask much less what to look for when they want the "it bag".
The appeal of knowing that one can bring their bag into Hermes for a lifetime for repair
is priceless. We all know that H won't touch a repair that has not been in the hands of their
craftsman..

There are a few top drawer ‘spa’ companies that do repair work on H bags that are well respected, the only caveat is the turn around time. None of your better resellers would use a local shoe maker. And I was fortunate in that Hermes spa accepted a repair from me of a vintage box leather Kelly in raisin where someone had touched up a worn corner with a purple magic marker that wasn’t even close in color. Hermes spa removed the marker color and touched it up appropriately. So exceptions do happen.

Back to topic.

In light of what is going on in the world I’m wondering when the borderline insane prices on Fashionphile will begin to drop.
I also noticed something else about Fashionphile, they have bags listed as “New” but in the description it says scratches or light scuffs, that’s not new in my opinion.

Definitely agree on both points. I was wondering if the conflicting language is because they are working too fast to list things and use some type of computer form that's mostly written. And then don't take care to describe the item.

Not getting into specifics, but I know a few of the very big resellers of new bags who sell at premium prices, who sell bags that are used, albeit gently but they sell them as new. The plastic on the hardware has been reapplied, they touch up corners and such on their own. It's been going on for years. And some of these resellers do not accept returns.

I'd love to know who they are. Some resellers are known for selling almost entirely boutique fresh bags. If they say it's new, I'd expect it to be new.

One in particular out of NYC who brings the H bags to her local "shoe repair for touch ups"
as she doesn't want to wait for H to do the necessary spa trip as it takes too much time..

How do we define those items that were returned to Hermes stores for credit and being put back on shelves? Do we ever question them as 'new' or 'used'? as we know H stores have a 14 day refund policy for store credit, how can they guarantee that the first owner have not used it?

Well, I assume it is a rare quota bag that's been returned and resold, no? And with regard to other items, I have only one experience where I changed my mind about a CSGM and wanted to exchange it. I'd had not taken it out of the box and the ribbon was still on it, but the SM, who knew me very well for many years, examined that shawl very carefully. I would hope this happens with all returns.

Edited to add: I just saw the last couple of posts and am shocked. I guess I shouldn't be based on these stories.

I know this is an old thread but I brought two fabulous scarves from that seller authentic and in great condition and also a watch..wish I could find him again
I agree! I had great experiences with this seller. As I remember, prices were dropped significantly to clear out inventory and then s/he disappeared completely from eBay. I still have them as a “saved” seller so I should be notified if they ever list anything with the same jb8506 ID.
