Hi All!

This is my first post and first time selling a Birkin so I thought I would reach out to all of you. My very first Birkin, Black with GHW. I've since got a togo in gold, and 2 kellys. I don't really use the black one at all anymore because I've learned I'm a PHW girl! So I'm selling so I can buy a new one. What's the point of it sitting in my closet all sad and lonely? Anyways, I've been trying to figure out where to sell - Vestaire Collective, Fashionphile, The Real Real, they all take such a huge cut!! I'm having to list my bag at such a high price to get any decent money back - a price I know no one is going to pay! I posted on Ebay but they are suggesting I sell it for like $4,000 which is insane,

xoxo Thanks!!

I think the reason why they have to ask you to sell at 4000usd(ie at a low price) to them is for several reasons :-
  1. Although black + ghw + in ardennes - this is obviously going to be a preloved bag - though ardennes is a lovely leather, it is ultimately a 22 year old bag.
  2. The current trend is small bags, a 35cm birkin may only reach specific audiences
  3. They can’t price the bag too high due to the aforesaid and they have to make a profit themselves
I personally don’t think the consignment stores are ripping you off but if you would like to sell at a higher price, you might need to resort to other outlets such as ebay / carousell / facebook pages. The cons, however, is that it may take you quite a wait for a buyer to come along.

Best of luck!

Hi everyone, I'm just writing to say how amazing Docride is.
I purchased a Restoring Spa Kit for Box Leather bag and Color Touch up kit and she was SO HELPFUL and responsive with my questions and matching the color kit to the bag.
That sort of customer service doesn't happen often and the knowledge that I can shoot a question to her and she'll answer is fantastic.

Lady_S gave you great advice. Ardennes B35 is a lovely bag, but due to the age and weight you should expect your buyer pool will be a bit smaller than for some other combos. Regardless, you can certainly get more than what you were offered. Selling expensive items can be thought of on a continuum. At one end is through the reseller or reseller site, where there is no risk to you of being scammed by a buyer and you will have much greater exposure to buyers than if you sold on your own, but you will get less money in pocket as a result (you have to “pay” for these benefits). On the other end is selling yourself on a site like eBay, where you will get more of the profit for yourself, but there are much higher risks with some unscrupulous buyers out there and it may take longer to find a buyer. It’s up to you where your priorities line up (more $, faster sale, not wanting any stress/risk over the transaction). I hope that is helpful.

I bought a Kelly at TRR several years ago. It was a great buy at a great price - however, I also spent a LOT of time on the phone with a sales rep who took multiple additional photos for me, and of course I had the bag authenticated by Bababebi. TRR also did mail the bag all by itself in a cardboard box with no padding!!!!

More recently (and I posted about this earlier here) I asked for extra photos of a Kelly I was considering in "very good" condition. This time TRR was much less helpful and when I did receive the photos there was severe damage to the bag. IMO it was too damaged to be sold at all, and certainly the damage was at a level that should have been noted. TRR told me "the bag fits our definition of Very Good condition".

Now - if you buy with a credit card with good protection, and TRR messes you about, your CC company can force a return. But you're risking a lot of annoyance.
There is also a dedicated TRR thread in the general forum.
Thank you. I ended up going with Fashionphile and should receive my bag today. After reading about the different leathers on the forum, I decided to go with Fjord as it seems more long-lasting than Togo or Clemence. I hope I m not disappointed when I open the box!

Hi everyone, what would you say about purchasing H scarves from Fashionphile or The Real Real? What would be your advice on shopping H scarves on these 2 sites, apart from always having them authenticated here? Has anyone purchased scarves on these 2 with good experience?

Being a new collector, I really want to find the iconic H designs such as Brides de Gala, Springs, or Les Cles in their classic reissues, and these are not currently available anymore directly from Hermes (at least this season). I found some on FP and TRR and have been tempted to buy them. However, I'm nervous with their authenticity and potential inaccurate described conditions...
I've been looking up posts in the forum about purchases made from these, and saw some warnings against TRR for consigning, inaccurate description of condition and packaging. What about Fashionphile?

Thanks so much!

@goldenfountain, I bought scarves from both sites.
1. Scarves received from both sites were new, with boxs, and matching the descriptions.
2. TRR has shipping of $11.95 but FP is free shipping. Sometimes you can use 20% off coupon on TRR but you have to wait about 1 -2 weeks for new item if it hasn’t sold.
3. Both sites accept returns for scarves. You can always get authenticatied on purse forum for peace of mind. There is a dedicated thread for that.
4. Packages - I prefer FP but TRR is improving.

Hope it helps.

I haven't purchased anything from Fashionphile, but I have from TRR. It went fine, but I've not gone there away since. The scarf is authentic - and nothing is wrong with it - but I just hate the pictures on their site! It's so hard to authenticate and/or see the whole thing - so I gave up on them.
I have purchased several from Poshmark and from eBay - but of course you should have them authenticated!

Thank you for sharing! I agree that it's really hard to see accurate pictures on theirs!

I have not purchased a scarf from Fashionphile but I got my first Birkin from them. I've been a customer of theirs since 2015 and save for some freebie issues, they're actually great! Packaging is professional, and website is great, especially with the photos and filtering. The best is their quality description. They describe conditions down to the last detail that sometimes, if they say there's a minor scratch, you sometimes would find yourself staring at your bag and say "what scratch"? They're that anal about it. Lol.
