Wonderful. Although not with H (as not one in my state) I had similar experience with Miu Miu. Never been in the store and was simply looking around when approached by an SA. We just chatted about shoes and other general things, then I left. Six months later I returned to buy a pair of shoes I saw on their website and the same SA approached me using my name. Wow. It still sticks in my mind.

Sharing a story of good service at my H. I'd dropped by just to check out what was available. None of the items I wanted were in yet, so my fave SA invited me to have a cup of tea while she assisted another client who was purchasing a bag. We struck up a conversation. When our SA stepped away, the lady told me that she had not intended to buy a bag that day, but she had just received some good news and her DH told her to celebrate by splurging on a new purse. When she walked into H that morning, my SA was so friendly, patient and knowledgeable that she was impressed. She left without buying, but returned in the afternoon and bought a purse she had been shown earlier. She confided that she had made her decision to buy because of the excellent service. I  my SA :amuse:

Is it common practice when going into H to only wear the H brand?
Not in my neck of the woods. I am almost always without any H. And I have not noticed any discernible difference in the way they treat people who are wearing H or who are obviously decked in designer wear. I do notice a difference in how the conversation turns when the customer is friendly or sincerely interested in H, versus those who demand service or who straight off the bat walk in saying they want a B.

It's not a must however it's a plus to a certain extent when bridging relationships between you and store .they will show more appreciations
On a side note
Just be yourself
Just be comfortable
Shopping is relaxing not stressful

Good to know! It is my dream to own a B & Kelly, but Im not quite there yet. I just didnt want to break one of the unspoken rules when I go into H lol

When you buy something from your SA, let your SA see you wearing it in the future when you come back into the store. It’s a good way to build rapport and lets them know you like the brand.

99.9% of the time I walk into HERMÉS wearing work out clothes. I don’t think I’ve ever walked in wearing something I’ve purchased in the store - with the exception of maybe a bag. I have small children - I can’t be bothered to care!!!! Also, one thing I learned long, long ago from a very short stint in high end retail is that the majority of people with large amounts of cash to burn do not worry about dressing the part - they have nothing to prove. A good (not snotty and ignorant) SA should recognize this and treat people equally. If they dont, I don’t want to spend money with them anyways.

I LOVE my SA at SCP. He’s amazing. I could sit around and chat with him forever (if he had time). He’s not pushy and always tells me never to buy anything I don’t love - even when Birkin’s come in he repeats over and over that I shouldn’t buy if I’m not in love with it.

I think the key is to be super friendly always and excited and knowledgeable about the product and why you think it’s special.

I recently purchased the h heure watch in store. Unfortunately my sa was off that day and she asked another sa to help me. But the other sa was out for lunch when I arrived so another sa was helping me. The strap of the watch was a little too long for me so she told me that she can help me make an extra hole. Guess what happened?! It's soooooooo out of line. [emoji20] i bought a black strap so when I see it from the front its not that obvious but when I turn it around I really want to cry for trusting that sa for doing a great job. It's my fault too I didn't check the item properly. Anyway.. I told my sa she apologized sincerely but the not other woman! I just think it's rude. Not the kind of service I would expect frm H stores. :(

Hi don't feel sad, my H watch has one hole added and looks like yours too. it happens to many of my other items too (watch straps, shoes straps, belts) when one extra hole is needed. it is not that off the line really.

I do try to wear the brand when I go into a store, be it Hermes, Chanel or Dior.

On that day it so happened I was wearing Chanel and decided to pop into H when something on display attracted me in, totally unplanned trip. Initially the small minded me was feeling concerned that nobody will attend to me since I'm not wearing H. But a nice smile and attitude goes a long way anywhere. I decided to just be positive and enjoy my browsing time. And guess what, a very nice sa attended to me and I walked out a very happy customer :)

I found that building a relationship with an SA is more important than what I wear when I go in to H. I think I have mentioned it before but the first time I went into my H store I was unshowered, in workout clothes and covered in cat food from caring for my mom’s sick cat. I told the SA who approached me that I was in need of a little retail therapy because of my mom’s cat who was not doing well. The rest was history. My wonderful, wonderful SA and I hit it off and since then I have gone in wearing everything from golf clothes, to work out wear to ratty jeans and a sweatshirt to nicely put together outfits that have and have not included H. They know me in the store and don’t care if I have showered or not at that point of the day (last time I got a call for a very special bag I literally jumped out of bed, threw on some clothes, put hair in a pony tail and drove over.) Mind you, I do shower daily it just depends on when I am at the store

I also worked in high end retail for a number of years and agree with VCAcollector. A good SA does not size you up by what you are wearing. Many, many times I had dealt with customers who looked like, well they looked like me the majority of time that I go shopping. Nothing special and not trying too hard. I was always wary of the women who shopped together dressed to the nines. More times than not they would each buy a bunch of stuff and then separately come back to the store to return it.

My advice is to be comfortable in your own skin and a friendly disposition will get you farther than a shower.

If I didn’t go in wearing the items I bought, firstly I wouldn’t have much else to wear and second it would all be kinda a waste?

First, I want to visit you ladies' closets -- they must be fabulous.

But, if you only wear the brand when going to a store, it makes shopping rather difficult, no? Do you shop only for Chanel on one outing, Hermes on another, etc.???

All the SAs at my H stores know me (and the GDs I often have with me) and could not care less what I wear. They know if I see something I like, I am buying it, no matter what I wear. Dept store SAs are the same in various departments I frequent.

I tend to mix. Chanel for RTW, shoes and bags Hermes is quite normal.
