Treatment in Hermes Stores

No way would I ever purchase anything from them. I would box up everything I got there and take it back. In doing so I would remind that sales associate that she is a clerk, and the only thing that separates her from the gal checking out groceries at Walmart is the overpriced garbage she sells.

Omg! I’m literally rolling on the floor reading this. Like Rotflmao.

I don't find it funny. It's quite insulting to may of the many members in this forum and beyond.

Thank you! It's one thing to dislike an SA. But calling things they sell garbage?

Hope you found an H with a friendly SA

Sharing a fun perspective on SAs: I dropped by H unexpectedly because I was in the area and I had this feeling that the scarf I wanted had arrived. Walked in and was told my SA was not in that day and another SA whom I work with had just gone on her dinner break. I didn't mind just browsing for a while but my H doesn't like to leave anyone unattended. So this young lady comes along to assist me. I suspect she is from the office, rather than the sales floor - sometimes they are expected to help if the ratio of sales staff to customers goes wonky. She wasn't unfriendly, just very intense and not smiley. She thawed when I told her exactly what I wanted. And then thawed further when I greeted another SA who had just returned from his break. My next visit, when I told my SA about the encounter, she laughed and said I'd made an impression on the intense young lady - she had never had a customer before who came armed with colour print-outs of the scarf range :smartass: I think I intimidated her

I don't think you intimidated her, I think you helped her. I think many temps and new staff feel totally overwhelmed by nearly everything/every question, they seem to have to run off to ask someone something all the time. How great to have a customer who can be clear and specific about what they want.

I'd like to think so, but she did zip off in another direction when I tried to catch her eye on my next visit. I shall have to make efforts to get to know her better :amuse: I'm really not very intimidating in my Batman teeshirt and Sanrio laptop bag

Thank you so much for saying this! I hope that folks that post in this thread looking for perspectives on H experiences take a bit of time to consider the posting history of replying members. Posts that just fan a fire without personal experience should be taken with a grain of salt.

I must say I’m rather disappointed to read so many stories of less than pleasant experiences in H stores. I’ve always had great service with every SA I’ve encountered even in stores abroad when I have travelled; I guess I’ve been lucky!

Me as well - even in the Greenwich store, the SAs have always been friendly. I only drive up every so often for a little day trip with my best friend. I was even shocked that the SA called me when something I had mentioned came in. So I’d love to know who this SA was (certainly she won’t last very long there if that’s how she treats customers, that boutique never seems to be crowded). I have no reason to believe OPs experience was anything other than she stated here, and this behavior on the part of the SA sounds inexplicably bad.

People who receive "normal" good service are not prone to write about it. It's when there is bad service that indignant folks snatch up the phone/pen/keyboard. That's just the way it is. The extremes get highlighted.

Actually I have sent emails to corporate to highlight amazing service.

That’s why it’s there, folks. Know your fellow TPFers, look at the length of membership and quality of participation. Not in this case, but sometimes I look to see if a particular member tends toward the negative in general or is never otherwise in this subforum....

I took it with a grain of salt knowing it’s probably a “you hurt me, I’m going to hurt you harder” kinda reflex response coming from WondeWoman76. Whoever REALLY thinks Hermes sells Garbage either doesn’t know the brand or is just upset they haven’t scored their HG item. I try not to take everything here too seriously but when I squint I can see how that commen from WOnderWoman76 would be insulting even to me. I don’t spend my hard earned money on garbage.
People will say anything to have the last word or to feel good that they got back at someone they thought made them feel terrible.

What an unsettling thread to read (for many reasons!). It's a shame we can't all enjoy the consistently great service many here experience. But to insult and degrade hardworking people, whether they work at Walmart or Hermes, and to insult the beautiful products...well, that tells me all I need to know.

For the record, my SA speaks three languages, has a degree from Parsons, and drives a way nicer car than I do! She is a smart and hardworking professional salesperson. That said, I treat the people ringing up my purchases at Target with similar respect. It's probably wise to not make assumptions about the people helping you. And even if they are on the lowest socioeconomic rung of society, they still deserve respect. Of course, so does every client who walks into any store! I understand the frustration, for sure. But to retaliate with, "I'll show you, you lowly clerk, you're a nobody!" does not seem like a wise strategy.

A H-loving friend and I were also once advised to look online for a particular item on one occasion. He's actually a very nice, cheerful SA and I think he meant it with good intentions BUT when you've traveled to a flagship store you kinda expect something a bit more er...helpful. It also demonstrated H employees don't know the h.com very well either judging by his attempt to navigate it.

We also don't know what's been said to staff during training. My SA is sworn to secrecy by HO about certain things when a) they are clearly already for sale on h.com for our country and/or b) H employ a PR agency famous for soft launching and liaising with influencers on social media and whatever is all over the Net and has been for weeks.
