That's bizarre. In the US, SAs are falling over themselves to sell the gold jewelry. I was told straight out in Vegas "buy the gold CDC and we'll pull the Bs and Ks from the back room". Maybe try another SA?

While on vacation in Hawaii, it was hinted that a Constance in Rouge H box leather with GHW might be available if we happened to decide on a gold Kelly bracelet or gold CDC bracelet.

There's two situation,
Every morning of the day, or at the beginning of the week, the shop manager would choose several bags(Birkin/Kelly) and tell the salesmen, these are the bags we could sell today/week. So normally we don't need to ask the manager for these bags. But actually they ask, because they don't want any trouble afterwards.

The other situation is every month or week, the shop manager pick several bags, and tell each salesman" you can sell these bags this week/month". And the salesman don't need to ask the manager before he sells, even the client doesn't purchase anything else. It varies from shop to shop that the quota they can sell every month. Normally a small shop like us we can sell 40-50 Birkin/kelly per months. But for FSH, it's totally different, I've heard that one salesman could achieve 100,000 euro sale in one day which is incredible for some small shops like us. So surely they have bigger amount for bags.

Oh, there's another situation, that only happens in big shops with different department managers. The shop manager choose some bags for every department, and the department manager can decide themselves to whom they sell. And the salesman always need to ask their department director for sell a bag as they are not allowed.

In any case above, there's always a budget we need to achieve, so we have to think how to achieve the budget with the use of limited bags, same for a department manager or for a salesman in small shops. Even for a shop manager, if a shop makes a huge sale, he can have bigger quota for bags when the podium

PS. Mini Kelly pochette/ Kelly cut pochette/ HAC are all included in these quota.
Not the Constance.

And every manager keep the stock into two parts, one for himself( the bags only could be sold by himself) and one for the shop staff. And stock for himself include exceptional pieces, exotic leather or special orders. If you enquire such a piece, the salesman have to ask the manager for that.

Thank you so much for your info. :smile1:

Natalie, in a case like this where you are a SERIOUS, serious, customer, I'd work these details into a pleasant little chit-chat with the manager, " geez, I want these items really badly for birthday, [next week Thursday, whatever] is there anything you can do?" When a customer starts to be a VIP as you are showing clear signs of being, sometimes the manager will serve that customer directly, with no SA interference.

That's what managers are for. SA's can be "not on the ball" often enough. I agree I wouldn't buy something that expensive on line. I have known of people that have a working phone relationship with an H they visit only once in a while because of distance. This SA you have sounds (excuse me) incompetent bordering on rude.

Lol... I don't want to name names but he was the assistant Manager of the store!

I would've taken the bait, just because I'm planning to buy a Rose Gold Kelly bracelet anyway. But if it was something I'm not interested in, I'll pass even if it means no Constance.

I was a newbie to world of Hermès and it was our first visit to an Hermès store, didn't realize at the time Constances weren't readily available, let alone a box leather Constance. As with many things in life...it wasn't meant to be.
Oh yeah that happened to me too. Mine was hinting the diamonds
I would like to step into their vault of handbags if diamonds were to be purchased.:graucho:

I don't believe I've ever been lied to by any of my salespeople. Sorry if this is the experience you've had. I wouldn't continue shopping with a company I felt was lying to me.

I agree, my SA is always candid about what he can do and what he can't. He is also candid about what I need to purchase in other areas of H in order to purchase the bag I am looking for. For me, that isn't a problem since I love their scarves, shawls, jewelry, shoes and some of their clothes as well and had been purchasing those items long before I started working with my SA.

Just want to share my frustration. So I want to order a wallpaper. I'm required to make a full deposit, but because it'll arrive in 2016 (around 6 months time from order), they quoted me 2016 price (previously they quoted me 2015 price). Has this happened to anyone before. I feel silly if I'm going ahead with this, the only thing is I really luv this wallpaper, I'm just not sure how to handle the situation. The price difference is not that big but I thought if I pay now in full I should get today's prices.

Sorry to hear that!

I am not sure if I would cancel but I would definitely ask for 2015 price. Lead time/delivery time/whatever they want to call it should have nothing to do with what you pay them if the order and payment is today.

For me I would simply ask if they want the payment in 2016 if they are charging me 2016 prices. That I think is fair; even if the order is now, it makes sense to pay whatever the item is worth that day.

Thanks Lejic, I'll try to talk to them again. Hopefully they come to their senses.

An addition to Podium.
The podium actually is not only a conference for managers to put orders. When I say it is like a monopoly game, it's actually really a sale. There are salesmen selling all the items, and they make profit!! The salesmen at the podium only works for the podium, two times each year. Their job is to introduce, promote and sell the items, just like every salesman's work. The price at the podium is not the the price we see in the shop, and of course it's not the cost to produce the product. For example, one item cost 500 to produce, then its price at the podium might be 800, and the price at the shop might be 1200. And when Hermes sell the items at the podium to every shop, actually they already make profit( 800-500), after they have a second profit (1200-800). But the first profit doesn't need to pay tax. It might be difficult to understand, but that's how they do at the podium.
So Hermes hire salesmen to sell as many pieces as possible, the salesmen need to be more professional as their "clients" are all managers of the shops and professional too.

Sometimes I wonder the whole bizarre story about Bags(need to purchase a lot before obtaining a bag) is due to the podium system. As the managers are required to do so at the podium, it's no surprise that they need to sell in this way in their shop to make the budget.
And when the managers at the podium are asked to buy a difficult piece( such as a diamond watch or furniture), they have to think how to sell it in their shop and normally when they put orders for the bags, they already have the idea in their mind, which bag should I offer in order to sell this piece of difficult item.
I'm stressed out just reading about it
Thank you for sharing all this useful information. I have just one question, but I'm only interested in the answer in regards to FSH. Do they really don't know when the new shipment will come in?
