A few posts ago you said you were briefly employed as an intern. Your post above seems to indicate you are currently with Hermes as a salesperson. Could you perhaps clarify?

I was an intern at Hermes, and I am no longer in the company. That's the fact and if I said anything against the rule of the forum or false, I apologize for that. What I want to share is simply some experience.

Oh. Because your last post was in the present tense, saying you are as salesman. And in the context of the discussion, it is easy to assume you mean at Hermes.

Yes exactly, concerning about the robbery happened last year in Paris workshop of Hermes, I was trying not to give too much detail information online about the location. Thank you very much for clarify this.
Sorry again for the misunderstanding.

Given that the robbery indeed happened, it appears the miscreants out there are already well aware of the location of the workshop.
And this probably goes without saying, but to repeat any of this inside information to an SA or SM would be ill-advised, IMO.
But it is fascinating.

Yes you are quite right, so we have to be careful about what we can talk and what is not supposed to be talked in public.

Indeed....

I would think that employees are prevented from discussing a lot of things in public for reasons of competitive advantage, and that it would be somewhat risky for them to actually do so.

An addition to Podium.
The podium actually is not only a conference for managers to put orders. When I say it is like a monopoly game, it's actually really a sale. There are salesmen selling all the items, and they make profit!! The salesmen at the podium only works for the podium, two times each year. Their job is to introduce, promote and sell the items, just like every salesman's work. The price at the podium is not the the price we see in the shop, and of course it's not the cost to produce the product. For example, one item cost 500 to produce, then its price at the podium might be 800, and the price at the shop might be 1200. And when Hermes sell the items at the podium to every shop, actually they already make profit( 800-500), after they have a second profit (1200-800). But the first profit doesn't need to pay tax. It might be difficult to understand, but that's how they do at the podium.
So Hermes hire salesmen to sell as many pieces as possible, the salesmen need to be more professional as their "clients" are all managers of the shops and professional too.

Sometimes I wonder the whole bizarre story about Bags(need to purchase a lot before obtaining a bag) is due to the podium system. As the managers are required to do so at the podium, it's no surprise that they need to sell in this way in their shop to make the budget.
And when the managers at the podium are asked to buy a difficult piece( such as a diamond watch or furniture), they have to think how to sell it in their shop and normally when they put orders for the bags, they already have the idea in their mind, which bag should I offer in order to sell this piece of difficult item.
This is so interesting, it's like a good book you cannot put down! Again, thank you for being candid and sharing this information.

A former H SA based in the US once told me that on rare items, they would need to plead their case (or I should say the client's case) as to why one SA/Client deserved a special/high demand item over another client. They would do this in store meetings once new shipment arrived. Everyone would be pleading their case for the SM to decided which SA/Client. Sometimes, the SAs would get into spats about it. She left a few years ago saying the stress was overwhelming because you really wanted to please your clients and it was almost impossible to do so.

Yes I always think to be a manager in Hermes is quite depressing, under the pressure from the company and the reputation.
I can assure everyone here if it's allowed and without the budget pressure, all the managers would love to satisfy every one who desires for a bag.
And I despise those who take benefits for their own as a condition to sell bags.
We salesmen the same want to satisfy the clients, we actually feel bad when we have to say no to clients and to see the disappointed face. We are only salesmen, we wish to see that everyone has a great shopping experience with us. We hate lies, one friend of mine left Hermes for the reason she told me " I cannot accept my life wasting here, answering a thousand 'NO' to clients everyday".
The system is depressing, for everyone, such as now we are more like policemen who need to check the passport of clients to distinguish the resellers. We are merely salesmen lol, not detectives.

Haha so its true big liars to be h sa
From monopoly to sherlock Holmes policeman and thieves
Catch me if you can drama everyday
Ita with you
Sales system is depressing
Pinnochio will not get this job haha

I don't believe I've ever been lied to by any of my salespeople. Sorry if this is the experience you've had. I wouldn't continue shopping with a company I felt was lying to me.

This is not actually unusual for brands with broad product lines in several categories and a large number of standalone boutiques. There is a massive showcase and the sales/store manager is responsible for choosing the "mix" that will work in their area, and there is a lot of pressure to have a successful mix. There are always "dud" items that nonetheless the brand wants to sell rather than liquidate, and there are always "hot" items - from runway reaction or press or fashion bloggers - that will bring people into the stores.

H is absolutely unique in the fact that they have hot items that remain in demand every single year, and they have, brilliantly, done the opposite of what most brands would do - they deliberately create scarcity (or perceived scarcity) with these desired items. Unlike other brands, the store manager now has a real lever to move other merchandise.
It is really a spectacular strategy, and only works because they did design iconic, beautiful bags, and because they maintained the craftsmanship tradition.
