Treatment in Hermes Stores

If I were in this situation, I'd just return the green Lindy to the London and forget about buying from the Glasgow store. I can't talk for anyone else, but when I spend any significant amount (and I believe anything H costs a significant amount), I demand a good shopping experience AND a product I like. I may like something but if the SA treats me badly, I walk away. I work hard for my money and value it so much that I actually remember the shopping experience of EVERY single luxury item I have ever purchased. Looking back, I noticed that the items I ended up parting with were easier to let go when the SA treated me badly, I felt rushed into buying it, etc. In turn, I also end up rewarding good SAs with repeat business, as I did last night when I purchased a blouse from a very sweet SA at Isabel Marant. She not only made sure I got the item I wanted, but she actually chatted with me about my personal life, too.

The cost of the Lindy is a significant amount of money to me, and it sounds like it is for you, too. If this were me, no matter how much I wanted the blue, I'd hate to have the possibility of owning it, but cringing when I thought of how rudely I was treated by the Glasgow SM. Also, I'd hate to be stuck with a color I didn't like. So what would I do? I'd drop the situation with the Glasgow store and return the green Lindy to Harrods. As someone who recently moved a long distance, I'm not understanding why you'd want to have this on your hands right now, as moving can be really stressful. I'd want to just wipe the slate clean, be patient, and wait to purchase the H item I really want when it's available and when I have a great SA to purchase it from. I'm not someone who wants to rush just cuz I fear I'll never find it again or whatever. I believe if I'm meant to have it, I will.

Please don't take this post as an attack on you. I'm simply trying to offer you a solution that I think will actually help.

+1. Read through all of the posts about this Lindy situation and am not going to get into what should have been done by H or the customer but I do completely agree with the first few sentences of the above post regarding H shopping in general. It should be pleasurable and not stressful ~ most of my H shopping is done in five minutes or less, always with my lovely SA and it is always fun for me. Otherwise, why bother?

Sorry that I cannot offer a great solution to this problem. It seems like the best course of action might be to return the London Lindy and settle down and patiently wait for one that is meant to come your way.

Totally agree! The shopping experience would be just as important to me as owning the Lindy.

Hi everyone, thanks for caring about my situation. I got contacted by H office today, and the Comm. Developer told me that the bag was shipped this morning from Glasgow (shows that the SM didn't tell the truth when he said that the bag was reserved for someone else - not me - and that a lot of people have been put on waitlist for the bag) to the Sloane St store. He'll be telling me what time I should pick the bag up tomorrow morning. I hope everything will work out in the end

This is my first time buying an H bag, therefore due to the exclusivity of this brand, I expected a satisfying shopping experience as well. The Comm. Developer has again apologised on the SM's behalf, telling me that what the SM did was wrong and inappropriate.

As for the Lindy color - I really like the Malachite, but my boyfriend just bought me a Bamboo Herbag as a present a couple months ago. Even though these two colors are not the same/similar, they are still in the same tone - green, hence me wanting to buy the blue L when I saw it. But, if I was given an option between having a Malachite L or none at all, I'd choose the Malachite.

I will be moving out of the UK in 3 days, and getting a L in Indonesia is very hard and also the price is almost 1.5 times the price here in the UK. I have always wanted to buy an H bag before I go home, that's why I'm so eager to buy a L :smile1:

So glad to hear they are taking care of you as they should. Do please keep us posted, and I definitely want to see photos of the Lindy! I think a blue Lindy is one of the most beautiful bags in the world :girlsigh: I adore the teal hue of the malachite as well, and would love to see one in person... do you have photos of it? I have done a good bit of shopping in London and always found the SAs to be best as far as H goes in the New Bond store and the Boutique in Harrod's. I hope your experience ends up being a positive one after all this trouble.

I am bit confused. What are you doing with the green lindy? Are you / H shipping it to the Glasgow store?

I am delighted for you.

I had cause to complain once and in the end got great service from a Customer Services Director in the UK. However, it's such a shame that you had to have all the hassle particularly as you have the stress of moving to Indonesia at the same time.

I also hope that every time you use your Lindy you smile and will remember the sincere and best wishes of all the ladies here and not the trouble you had getting it:)

Indeed! I am glad to hear that Hermes corporate did bend over backwards to make their customer happy in this instance!
I always find that my purchases carry a bit of a patina from the original shopping experience. What with your ultimate customer-service success and the concern, good wishes, and tPF community love, your blue Lindy is really going to glow! Happy travels!

Hi everyone! I'm here to give an update.

I got a call from the Comm. Developer earlier this morning and he told me that the bag is ready for pick up at Sloane St store after 2pm. He also told me that Sloane St SM has been informed regarding my situation, therefore the exchange transaction will have no problem whatsoever.

I then got a call from someone at Sloane St, telling me that the bag is ready, and asked me what time I'll pick up the bag.

Went there at around 5.30pm and promptly greeted by an SA. The exchange transaction went smoothly, and the SA who assisted me kept saying "don't leave yet, we are not finished yet." I just follow her, and she informed me that the Comm. Developer instructed her to give me a gift because of "what happened in Glasgow" that has "caused you too much inconvenience". They gave me a Twilly :smile1: The SA then directed me to choose 1 which I like.

I went home with a blue L and a matching Twilly :smile1: I feel very thankful and relieved that this matter is solved. :smile1:
