Personally I don't care for the look of the new stores. They are so very dark. I mean literally, the lighting is so bad you cannot accurately see the color of the merchandise or a bag against your clothes etc. It is very depressing looking. I know Coach is expanding the men's line and as such I get a more masculine vibe from the new layout

My store had a VIP party last night to launch the fall line and the new store opening. They did not just invite people but posted it in a local magazine. Champagne, appetizers, etc. The store was busier than usual. But not super busy and I got a limited ed FOB because I purchased the new feather charm in gunmetal hardware to go with the black cherry metallic swagger I got with the last PCE

I'll have to take a picture of my Coach store next time I stop by. It is darker, like melissatrv says , but our store isn't so dim you can't see colors accurately. They have new recessed lighting and darkwood wall units lined with suede. The lighting is definitely less harsh and the decorations blend in in the background.

Ha! Darker lighting! Explains a lot. I always seem to look better trying on a bag in the store than at home. Perhaps the dim lighting is working for customers like me. LOL. :-)

The new remodeled store near me, empty

The store itself has a odd layout, 3 rooms with the register in the back and the lights seem to be dimmed as if you have just walked inside from bright sunlight dim, all the items in or on a glass shelves that seems to do not touch, I just find this remodel uninviting

Now you have me curious. I have been in several stores in the last three weeks while traveling and I haven't seen that layout. I could see how it could be off putting though. I need a darn map just to navigate Victoria Secret!!! I get lost. No joke!! And it is intimidating asking people wearing headsets for help when buying panties. I hope the Coach stores don't go in that direction (but guess it would be a good problem if you are getting lost in a Coach FP store!).

Is it delineated by bags/ready to wear/shoes or ladies and men?? Just waiting for the kids line!

I usually like going to Coach for small things like key fobs and SLGs, and random items for gifts.

I'm not liking the darker lighting, the different little rooms are weird to me, since they don't flow really. And things go up high, so short me can't see them.

I also don't like how the register isn't a counter at this boutique. Kinda weird to stand off to the side.

I do get greeted but it's kinda like I'm interrupting them in their conversation when I walk in and browse. It's not too busy whenever I drop by either.

I like the boutiques that are white trimmed in gold, that's the look I think of Coach, but I guess I'm not their target audience since many of the lines and styles I liked got discontinued. But the white really made it open, airy, and friendly. Plus a good contrast to showcase the bags. I felt more people were in the store during those times.

Just my opinion though.

Quite the opposite in the Atlanta area where they have closed 3 FP stores while the 4 outlets within 90 minutes of my home continue to thrive. I guess it's hard to shut the outlets down when they make the money for the company, or at least they did the last time I looked at Coach's financial statements.

Coach stopped separating the income from FP and outlet stores, which is telling

My store is not that big, just has a separate area for men's items, that is off to the right and then a main area and then you take a right and there is another area with a register

The furnishing in the store are odd for Miami, they seem out of place, heavy looking rugs and dark leather chairs, brick and wood floors, I would have done a clean modern but with Art Deco for Miami.

It's really the dim lighting that gets me, I like to see what I am buying

It is odd that darker lighting is mentioned, because mine had an overhaul done about a year and half ago, and it is all pale greys and mirrors inside, not dark at all. I wonder if there are two or more layout designs?
