hmmm - Another newbie on the LV authenticate this forum, brand new, only 5 posts, authenticating an ellipse, and then literally 3 minutes later asking for help authenticating an alma. I guess she's just an expert at only the ellipse. Seriously????

We can't keep people from doing this, but we can delete it as quick as we see it - which is what we've done!

Someone started a thread to have a Chanel authenticated because she read the rules and knew that she wasn't following the rules so started a thread instead...;)

Well... ya... I mean I don't know what to say to that! :shrugs:

For admin/mods ... I am just wondering when a post is reported and then subsequently deleted, does the poster receive any message from admin/mods indicating why their post are deleted?

Each post that is deleted has a reason given, so the poster can see that. But in some cases, we may follow up with a PM as well.

I would like to thank you for your PM Megs, but I would prefer to respond on this thread for the sake of continuity, and in full participation and support of the efforts of late to improve the deteriorating situation in some of the AT threads, and the board in general. I think is a positive step to discuss these issues in the open, as opposed to the usual behind-the-scenes actions, because I believe it fosters an opportunity for real improvement and demystifies how things are going to be dealt with, so we all can move forward in a positive direction.

This exchange thus far has resulted in a faster response to reports, and members hearing you and your staff's thoughts on what should be reported, and how those reports are addressed. The ATC thread is improved now that reports are actioned quickly. I look forward to further improvements across all the threads, the forthcoming Authentication forum, a format for submitting authentication requests, and some designation for authenticators so that members know who specifically is volunteering their time to assist them, and is trusted to do so.

While I appreciate your concerns for privacy, and your belief that dealing with these infractions is best done off the board, I question the effectiveness of this policy. We have seen repeated incidences of trouble makers returning, and continuing to attack and antagonize the authenticators and other members time and time again. Earlier posts on this thread point out said members continuing to post after theses offenses as if nothing had ever happened. What message does this send? It appears as if tPF condones their behavior, and that the authenticators and other members are prevented from defending themselves. Why shouldn't they just go on attacking us? If other members don't SEE there are consequences for such actions, why would they refrain from doing the same if they decide to?

What good is a disciplinary policy that doesn't result in discipline? These "warnings" fall on deaf ears. The whole point of warning someone is to imply a stronger action is to follow, but that action never comes...and the problems continue. If you can't, or won't back it up with serious punishment, loss of posting privileges, or banning from the site, the warnings are useless. If the victims don't see the moderators removing these agitators, they logically assume nothing was done, their ability to participate here free of harassment isn't important to you or your staff, and hence their contributions mean nothing to you. They grow frustrated and quit. The entire board suffers. More courtesy and concern is extended to the rule breakers rather than to us, the positive community members. This needs to stop, or more valued members of the board, the eyes the advertisers are paying to be seen by, will leave. We authenticators drive a great deal of traffic to the board. Losing more of as the situation grows more intolerable will have it's own consequences too, unfortunately some have already quit as a result.

Fantastic post!!

Thanks Megs and thank you for the post in ATLV!

Bravo, CB! This just might be the best post ever!

Thanks for your post CB. I am happy to post in this thread as well as PM. When there are issues, many times I will PM the people involved to see if I can help and when it comes to private matters, I only handle those via PM not via the forum.

This thread has really showed me a lot and helped me to learn the problems we were experiencing in the AT threads. I am always everywhere on the forum, but it is a little bit in a lot of places, and I didn't realize the issue AT threads and authenticators were experiencing. I appreciate you all bringing it to our attention and working together to try to fix some of the issues. Though I will keep reiterating, we can't fix everything.

How I choose to discipline is not for everyone. I am notoriously understanding and I think people have seen that on both sides of the spectrum - I believe in the good of people, I believe people deserve more than one chance, and I believe people have off days. I also have no problem removing someone who clearly is not working out with our forum, and that will happen.

What sometimes I think people forget is no one is going to like everyone, not in real life and not on our forum. People on this forum will not always jibe, some people will grate on your nerves more than others. I believe in this forum being a space for people to feel welcomed and to enjoy this as a place to join like-minded people.

I am sure if I let everyone run the forum for one day, each person would do it differently. And that's ok - it's just like parents parent different and spouses all have different expectations.

People do lose privileges to post, people are given infraction, people are PMd and given warnings, and we track that. We then act on it as we see fit, and it doesn't mean everyone will agree. I can't apologize for running the forum this way, because I do think overall people here are friendly and kind and enjoying themselves. And I've never turned anyone away from discussing an issue with me and me looking into it to see if it can be handled differently.

Great post! Really gets to the heart of the matter. The authenticators are so kind to do all they do, it's a remarkable service! It's disheartening to read that you and others have been targeted by abusive members and feel so unsupported.

I saw your original post this morning, very enlightening. I understand your growing frustration even more.

If I may ask, why did you edit it CB?

Hi Zestypasta:

I'm pretty sure it wasn't edited by CB.

Again, I'm sorry you feel unsupported CB. I'm glad I had a sleepless night and read tpf early today. I get it. :flowers:

You're a class act with no exception! You and Chanel go hand in hand indeed.

I reread your post again and I just want to know of there is something specific I haven't come through on? I am unaware of any situation that hasn't had closure/ attention.

You would think full-grown adults who post on an open forum would think so, but that's far from the case.

I started a thread awhile back on LV abut upcoming releases because I was able to get to that information before it was printed on a hardcopy. I posted the item name, described the item, the anticipated price point and even the item number so people can inquire about it on their own time. The only thing my SA required me to do was NOT post pictures until the look-books become available at the boutiques. In my mind, I thought I was doing a good thing, you know, posting unknown information to a group of LV lovers, because sharing is caring. Nope. A good handful of people PMed me after I specifically said I could not release the photos in public or PM, and then told me, if I couldn't give them the "full" information, then I shouldn't have said anything at all. One member even said "it's not like it's a cure for cancer" so give up the information.

That phrase just struck me in a personal and wrong way. I am in medicine and my mother is an oncologist. I've seen my fair share of people battling and dying from cancer, both professionally and personally. You cannot make an analogy like that. For goodness sake, they are (excuse my French) f*cking bags. You can afford to wait until the look-book arrives to see the photos.

I stopped updated that thread after that, stopped trying to defend myself and my decision, and have stayed away from LV in general. There's still a sour taste in my mouth, even today. People can find out information on their own, because I'm not about to get crucified again for being nice and what I thought was "helpful".

I remember reading this thread and being utterly shocked by the behavior of some of the members. It's sad that something positive had to become so ugly because people have no patience or respect sometimes. Aw! I'm a newer member here but have been reading TPF for years. You should come back to LV! :hugs:
