What if there was a mod dedicated to only AT threads across the forums? It might help if that's the only type of issues they handle, they'll have a better understanding of what the issues are, how to handle them and make everything more cohesive.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but I think the reason it's preferable for a brand specific mod is that she would know the brand and be more apt to recognize an authenticator who know the brand, knows what to look for, recognizes if there's a lack of certain pics necessary to authenticate and reqests the correct images vs. someone who isn't skilled in the brand.

Thus a mod dedicated to all AT brands probably wouldn't work.how would that mod recognize problems that might arise?

ETA: consider the problems we've seen with sites like ***************** where non-expert authenticators do multiple brands and have reputations damaged by so many errors.

It is definitely an interesting idea! Been Burned does bring up a valid point but also, logistically speaking, I am not sure there is anyway to give a mod only access to an AT thread(s). That mod would become the mod for the entire forum, essentially, and then be inundated with all reported posts.

How about a standalone AT forum with a separate thread for each brand?

Not a bad idead, but I don't know how realistic it would be to move all that around. I do know that M&V&S are working on some immediate solutions to some of this that we can make happen asap..

So why not give them the opportunity as they all have gotten input re the problems from many members. Let's hope the decision(s) are posted as that would be tremendously beneficial.

I have a concern about having official authenticators. We have at least one occasional authenticator on the Coach AT who knows more than the rest of us about certain styles. There are others who never authenticate but are experts on certain styles. I wouldn't want to discourage these people from helping.

We enjoy a bit of chat on our AT thread. I hope that whatever changes are coming still allow people to make comments that are neither an AT request nor an authentication.

ETA: I wonder if a stand alone AT forum will make it less likely that newbies will stay to discover our brand forums. But as it stands now, the AT threads are hard to find.

They're considering all suggestions, keep making them

O.K. Just to add to my idea of a standalone AT forum. The mod would be there primarily to support the trusted authenticators. Each brand that has its own AT now would have its own thread with its own trusted authenticators. The trusted authenticators would set the tone for the thread as they do today. Any concerns with uneducated authentications would be reported to and dealt with by the mod.

Not much different from today except the ATs would be centralized with maybe a bit of consistency but still keeping their uniqueness. And would have the support of a mod.

It would make them easier to find too.

Well, that's truly positive, Swanky Mama of Three. Old cliche: "Rome wasn't built in a day". Doubt this will take nearly as long.

Exchange of existing/continuing problems and possible solutions is a great thing and as a member I'm glad to see that happening.

While I tend to look at the "glass half full" as opposed to "half empty", I'm taking a positive stance that Megs and Vlad with the input from mods, authenticators and members, will work out a solution. Will that have to "fine tuned"? Perhaps, but to rectify it may need fine tuning after they make the decisions.

I think as long as the regular or 'trusted' authenticators all know who the part-timers are, I hope nobody would be discouraged.

If there is any kind of trusted AT list, I am sure we could add whoever is trusted to authenticate, even if it is certain styles.. so long as they are fairly active or consistent in helping. The last thing we'd want is to discourage people who know what they're doing. I help authenticate in Chloe but there are a handful of styles I won't touch, because I just don't know them.. So I can relate!

I don't think the flow of the threads should change that much regardless of what changes come about. The authenticators and members in each brand have always set the overall tone of ecah AT thread.

That's kind of what I was thinking, The mod would rely on the everyday trusted authenticators to alert them to a potential reckless/inexperienced person chiming in and work with the authenticators on fixing the situation (in addition to the normal modding of unruliness of course lol) They wouldn't need to know the brand necessarily because the Authenticators would explain the issues to the Mod. It would also fix the problem that some brands don't have a dedicated Mod at all? (I think I read that)

fact is, EVERY single AT thread has different needs and the rules
have been set by different people…
Of course Coach will have different needs than LV or Hermes…

This is why I feel that the Trusted Authenticators should be able
to set things up for their brands… and have more control as to how the
AT threads are run on each different brand.. :smile1:

If there was an AT forum, perhaps there could be links in the brand forums and vice versa? Then, when someone does check out the AT threads, they can be encouraged to look at other areas. Perhaps, even a tutorial thread in there, as well. I know I still have problems locating places here, so tend to stay put because it is too confusing.
But, that is just me.
