Hi, I will be buying a bag from a Japanese seller from eBay.com, the seller has authenticity guarantee. The last time I bought from them, I asked them to Ship to a USA address, so they sent to a state in Texas for undergo Ebay authentication before sending to my USA address. I wasn't charge with duties and taxes. The item is worth $1100.

Now, I am going to buy from this Japanese seller again. The value of the item is somewhere $5500. I have 2 options. I can have them ship to my USA address again or ship to an address in Japan.

Option #1 - Same as what I did before, but will I be charged with duties and taxes now that the item value is higher? How many percentage will they charge?

Option #2 - ship to my Japan address. If I do this, will they still ship to USA for authentication inspection then ship to my Japan address? Will I be charged with duties and taxes? How many percentage?

Which of the two is a better option for me? I'd like to benefit from the authentication and at the same time, no need to pay for duties and taxes or pay a lesser amount of duties and taxes.

Thank you!

I purchased a Cartier item from a Japanese seller (I forget the name, but it’s a large wellknown store)…K…something.

It was $1400-$1500 or so and I got dinged with $60 in customs or carrier fees before they deliver. Not that bad. I’m in the US.

Estimate 10% customs and state sales tax for items over the first 800 ( I think)
before Covid, when Japanese resellers sent via EMS, customs fees were not always charged, but I believe they usually are with DHL.
