They sent my ring in a tiny ziploc in that pouch, in another ziploc, in a padded fedex thing, in another padded fedex thing, in a fedex box or something. We were like...interesting packing. But I actually like the little pouch. I use a Tiffany box anyway.

Ame do you think that the Royal Crown is higher set than the U113? Honestly, all the Vatche settings look a bit low set. And so do the Leons? I'm used to really tall, and I like it. Maybe Brian Gavin would be better for higher set? What do you think? Aaaah, who knew this would be so complicated!

From what I understand, Vatche will set the stones in the U113 higher and make the head taller, as they have several times in the past by request, and you have to be VERY clear about that up front that you expect it high, but they WILL NOT set or make the Royal Crown high/taller. They told me that's non-negotiable. Leon also does them super low, regardless of your request, and that's directly what he told me, that it's "by design", and what talked me out of hiring him in the first place, before I found out he doesn't really stand behind his work. Mark Morell was not as amenable to higher settings though either.

Brian Gavin, as far as I know, will set things as high as you want them, as long as it's still safe. You'd have to confirm that with him.

Its mostly passed now. Now just cleaning up. Its not a good sign when the news is asking for all available fire and ems to come to a specific suburb.

So ladies, I have an update! We went window shopping on Friday to see the Vatche settings and if there was anything else out there that I was missing.

I found a needle in a haystack, an estate T&Co empty solitaire setting. It was just sitting there in the Vatche display. The saleslady said a few months ago a woman came in and sold them her solitaire. They ended up selling just the diamond and put the setting in the case. And it was my size lol.

We figured it made no sense to buy a Tiffany replica when we could buy the actual Tiffany setting. So we bought it! I really didn't want to make an impulse purchase, I hope I made the right decision! :yes: Here's some pics!

Just curious, what was the ct wight of the original solitaire vs yours? Was it pretty much the same ct weight? And they were able to use the same original prongs and everything? That's so fortunate that the setting actually fit your existing diamond!

The original stone was 3.3, I know because it's inscribed on the ring! Mine is 2.3, so that's a whole carat difference. The jeweler was confidant that it would work, so we went for it. The prongs are the original ones, I think they pinched them in a tad to fit my stone. I'm sure theres been adjustments for the difference in size but I can't tell.

It seemed very 'meant to be'. The SA said there was a lot of interest in the setting but I was the first person with a stone they thought would fit. I still can't believe it!
