Tiffany's DBTY VS. Cartier's DLDC

I posted this somewhere else but this is my DBTY in RG (0.17). The shape of the bezel is different, if you are looking for the one in YG, but I like the weight this RG bezel added.

I like them both and they are equally excellent but personally but they give different impressions to me. These are the adjective I associate with each design (Notice - very subjective!):

Tiffany's DBTY: invigorating, approachable, adorable
Cartier's DL: sophisticated, reserved, proud

When I purchased my DBTY, I wanted something I can wear everyday to remember my family back in Japan. I also wanted to energize me because I was going through a rough time. Cartier's make me feel superior.

Both are excellent, for sure. I hope you can choose one that fits you :)

I think the delicate chain of the DBTY adds to the lightness of the necklace in that sized diamond . Your pic makes all the more exited for mine !

BTW...you should be a poster girl for jewellry !

You'll love it :) I feel that Tiffany's is more feminine and smooth. SLR + soft focus do the trick in the photos a lot... :graucho:

I have DBTY and my friend has DLDC. Somehow I prefer hers than mine tho hers is smaller than my DBTY 0.14. I am planning to get DLDC next. I think I like the thick chain and the bezel does make the diamond pop

I saw a Japanese celebrity on TV wearing the necklace and bracelet from Cartier and they looked really really pretty. Especially the bracelet, the Cartier logo charm was moving around as she moved her hands while she was talking, and it just really added something special to the bracelet. I was never really into the DBTY style but after I saw it I really want the bracelet!

I'm torn. :giggles:

The Tiffany DBTY is 0.17ct and $1200.

The DLDC small model is 0.10ct and $1230

The DLDC large model is 0.20ct and $2290

Price-wise, the Tiffany version and the small model DLDC are comparable. In that case, you would be getting more diamond for your dollar with Tiffany.

But if you're taking into consideration diamond size, the Tiffany would be comparable to the DLDC large model, but the Cartier version costs $1,100 more.
Then again, the Cartier version offers a more substantial chain and bezel.

While the Tiffany version is pretty, lightweight and feminine... The Cartier version seems more luxurious and has more presence, I would say.

I suppose that the question is: Is the heavier bezel and heavier chain with the Cartier tag worth the additional $1k?

There wouldn't be much in terms of weight and value of gold. The bigger diamond is worth more then the bit of extra gold in the chain and bezel, I think. I do love the tag, but in a necklace you won't see it much .
In a bracelet, it would soooo be worth it, as it looks lovely dangling :)
Just my humble opinion ...

Bossie...may I ask what length yours is ? I know they only come in 16 inch, but you can have them altered ?

yes tiffany's does face up larger...I looked at both and liked tiffany better but ended up having one made from a private jeweler. If you go tiffany .25ish is a really nice size...my custom made is a little under .5 ct and it looks like the tiffany .35 ct...hth :)

I have one from Tiffany and I also have one made by Brian Gavin Diamond. For the same amount of money, you can pick a lot bigger stone. Their craftsmanship is awesome, too.
