IMO: You can get a .25 pendant from Bluenile for about the same price ;) I think the necklace is wicked cute, but .05 is a little too small, imo. You can get the bezel setting in white gold for pretty cheap from BN, or you can do the "create your own" one and get it in yellow gold (exactly like what you want) $300 setting, plus whatever $$ diamond.

Here's white gold .25 for $450:

Here's .33 for $650, compared to $2530 from Tiffany.

I did the "create your own" with the yellow gold bezel setting, plus a $476 .46 diamond, for a grand total of $816, compared to nearly $2400 from tiffany.

If you want the Tiffany brand, then get it, but I think that you'll be really disappointed when you get the .05 diamond, when you could get something tons bigger for a better price, that looks exactly the same. Just my .02 though

thanks for the links callire and for the advice girls...but i was specially looking at the .05 size because i want to wear it with a pendant and think a larger size would take away from my diamond pendant kwim?!

hehe and for some reason the tiffany's one just seems so classy and elegant! And for some reason i personally think buying a like model of the necklace would be like buying a fake handbag - major no no for me lol i know im weird!!

Thanks guys!!!

yeah - thats quite teeny, but thats what she wants ... something elegant and a little flash ... im thinking of using my old RB .25 studs and making them into a similar DBTY necklace ...

dooo it!! that would be super super cute!! You know what ive always wanted to do? make a backwards necklace....like it would look like the tiffanys one, but then the closure would have a hanging diamond in the back, so when you put your hair up it would be like SURPRISE!!! hehe im such a nerd

Bump! I was thinking of buying the.05 DBTY in sterling silver...does anyone have any pics to share? silver, or gold...I just want to see some modeling pics of the necklace :)
I went to bloor and yorkdale, but they dont have it! so I'm going to order it from NY so I dont get to see it first...any pics would be greatly appreciated TIA!

I do want the tiffany DBTY I know I could get a larger diamond for the price but as luvednotspoiled said I really wanted it be a layering piece for other necklaces, to wear with my key pendant and I wanted it to be something that I wear all the time and not have to take off with other pieces. Plus its a grad present and it feels more special being from tiffany's KWIM?:blushing:

I got that exact necklace from the hubby for our one year anniversary. It's dainty but the diamond is super sparkly and I get compliments on it every time I wear it. You can certainly find a bigger diamond for that price but like others have said, if you like that's it's a Tiffany's diamond---go for it!

I saw some of the DBTY silver pieces at the Bloor boutique a week or two ago, the pieces were not on display though, my SA got them out of the drawer to show me.
They should have the platinum/gold version in the store, the silver is nearly identical so it should give you a good idea of what it will look like. The bezel setting around the diamonds is slightly thicker on the silver one, which I think makes the diamond look a little bigger (from a distance).

I purchased the 0.05 DBTY last year from Tiffany.com to layer with other necklaces but was extremely disappointed when it arrived. You could hardly see the diamond. I should have taken a closer look at the pics on the site --- the diamond was roughly just a smidgen bigger than the necklace links! I promptly ended up returning it. This year I bought a 0.35 carat from BlueNile, but ironically, the chain links were too big and made the necklace look cheap. I FINALLY purchased at 0.25 DBTY which has the dainty gold chain and a noticable diamond, but is small enough to layer with other jewelry. Hope this helps!

I would definitely recommend going in the store to try it on... I always think once you have tried it on, you will know if it's the right one or not...try to step away from the bright tiffany lights too--like near the window or something, cuz those lights make the diamonds look super sparkly, but they might not in normal lighting...

i have seen this IRL, it is tiny tiny, not what I expected from the picture that makes it look so beautiful. It was much too tiny to warrant me spending $1000 IMO. I am going to wait until I have bigger funds to buy bigger diamonds!

I'm such a tiff's girl and i always pay more for the quality over quantity. DBTY is amazing and the sparkle is incomparable to a lot of the similar types of necklaces i've seen. knowing me, i'd go for the tiffs
