Tiffany - Will you make a purchase before the price increase?

The two items I bought on friday, before the increase, have gone up. Not eveything has on the website. I bought the Elsa Peretti open heart (16mm) in rose gold with 18in chain and the yellow gold open heart (11mm). Together the price increase was $140. Glad I bought it when I did, thanks to TPF! I bought them because they are my push present to myself, my son was born on feb.7th. The little gold heart is him and I am the rose gold heart. They had to order them from another store (actually three) so I should be getting them by March 6th.

I haven't seen the price increase yet (Australia). I hope it's not too severe, we already pay ludicrous prices. The necklace I like is $375 in the US but $510 here!

What is the point of the price increase? A rose gold & yellow gold necklace that I've had my eye on have both gone up $25. I know it's not that much, but it still seems ridiculous.

The bracelet I'm gonna buy in May has gone up $15. It'd probably still be cheaper than buying it in the UK though, mind you the one I want doesn't seem to be on the UK site, weird.

Honestly, the price increases are driving customers (myself included) away from brands like Tiffany and Cartier.

The prices that they charge are already exorbitant. The most recent price increases do not reflect an increasing price in raw materials (gold, silver, platinum, etc.) and yet they continue to rise while the average person's quality of living steadily declines.

I understand that these are luxury items, but honestly! Don't you think that retailers would want to make their wares available to the masses? Items that were already barely affordable are becoming something that the average person cannot even DREAM of anymore!

I don't think the ss Tiffany prices in the UK has gone up, but I think the YG and SS heart lock bangle I had my eyes on has... yet the prices are so steep for gold and platinum that I don't even pay attention.

If I had my eyes on a particular item, I'd definitely want to beat the price rise and purchase a few months earlier, then budget for it. However, purchases for price increases sake... nah.

Incidentally, I noticed they've suddenly discontinued the plain heart tag link necklace, so there's only the RTT heart tag one now. Last I checked in Oct 2012, they still had it. A shame!

I think pretty much everything on my wish list went up, even the wallets. Some of it wasn't by much but I don't know how I feel about paying more for something that was the same product (and a different price point) just yesterday.

I'm very grateful that hubs got me my dbty ring for the holiday season as that has gone from $395 to $415 and while I love it, he wouldn't have at that price. :smile1:

NurseAnn - That's a big jump. And yes, you are right, gold prices haven't gone up, if anything, they've come down recently. It is ridiculous. I noticed the price of the bean necklace in gold, for example, went up, I believe $100. I was eyeing that piece as a possible "save up" but now I'm thinking "no way". I can buy gold pieces from others like Vale Jewelry or Dana Rebecca which are just as satisfying.

Funny you mentioned the bean. That was the other thing on my wish list.

I have not noticed any price increase where i am yet. I definitely won't buy something for the sake of beating a price increase, but there are one or two pieces i had planned to buy sometime in June, and now i'm wondering if i should just go ahead and get at least one of them this week.

Still no change in Australia as if Tuesday 2am (I'm up feeding a baby, I'm not crazy!)

Perhaps is not all countries? Maybe prices elsewhere are playing catchup? eg the RG 0.17 that Nurse Ann likes is already $1550 here.
