Recently i have been taking an interest in the coach classics. Tonight while looking online (trying to decide what to purchase with my pce) i came across the coach leather field bag. Does anyone own this bag? If so, thoughts- I was thinking of purchasing it for school (last year YAY!) and then transferring it over to use for work.... Any comments would greatly be appreciated..

It is a beautiful bag. My guess is that it might be heavy, but I could be wrong.

That is definitely a factor that i need to consider.. especially for school where there will be many items i need to carry around for classes... I also need to think about how durable it will be as well since it will be loaded up with books and etc....thanks for the help

It's a beautiful bag. The Coach Classics are newer, modified versions of some older coach styles. They are supposed to have light-weight leather and hardware as compared to the earlier glove-tanned leather bags. I have read some comments that the leather on the classic bags is stiff and easily scratched, but I don't have one so I don't know if that is true.

Coach also sells several of the older styles still made of glove-tanned and they are called Coach Originals. There has been some recent discussion about this, see the links below:

Kate - thanks for the insight- i will take a look at the sites you posted and hopefully gain more info on this..

That bag is gorgeous and a timeless design. I used to have a willis bag, but it was just too small for my needs. The classics are beautiful IMO. Post pics if you get one, I'd love to see it!

Thanks for the input- I am thinking very strongly that i will purchase the bag.. I received a pce and my birthday is in 8 days and my husband said that he is more than willing to purchase this bag because he feels that this bag in particular serves a purpose (school/work) vs the oodles of handbags that are sitting on shelves with tags still on them. I keep on telling him that his hobbies sit in our garage and take up space that to me serves no purpose ...You would think after 12 plus years he would finally understand the need to "collect" handbags (and shoes of course)

Reviving this thread.

I'm really interested in this bag and want to know of others' experience with it. It will be my first Coach bag. I'd love to see photos of the Tan IRL. I don't trust web photos to be accurate in color. I don't want a tan with much yellow in it.

Also, since I like really thick, heavy leather, I'm concerned about the discussion of the old leather being thick and the new leather being thin. I've looked for a pre-loved bag to no avail.

Any insight or photos greatly appreciated!
