Thought Coach had a lifetime warranty?

The warranty was in the catalog and a separate use card was in the Coach care kit that was identified as 'optional.' So the Coach kit was to maintain the bag. But I notice how the discussion is trying to be diverted from the lifetime warranty language that Coach now admits differs among manufactures. Warranties are language constituting part of the purchase contract and by law vagueness is interpreted against the drafter so the drafter is denied an incentive to be vague. This discussion is just convincing me to purse this in small claims court under the Consumer Protection Act allowing for treble damages for deception. Coach is a fraud.

Personally, I am simply asking for details to try to figure out how the bag got in this condition, which would then CLEARLY define whether or not the warranty applies. Coach will not repair a bag that YOU damaged, and their warranty -implied or explicitly stated- is for material defects, not defects caused by the consumer.

And believe me, I am in NO WAY defending Coach. As a consumer, they've screwed me over many times, so I would be more likely to understand where you're coming from.... And as a professional- I'm very familiar with consumer rights laws/protections, and the legal processes you have access to and could even offer advice in that realm, had you wanted it....except that you're being aggressive and defensive toward people that are just trying to help. Sorry if those questions feel like an attack to you; they're not. From now on, I'll keep my questions and advice to myself.

It seems that you are really a shill for Coach. Why would you help me when Coach is one one needing to answer and I suspect you really work for Coach using this avatar as your cover. The Coach warranty is a deceptive fraud.

Hahaha!! "Using this avatar" means I work for Coach....? Oh no, not at all, but thanks for trying to antagonize me. (Oh, and thanks for the "compliment" on the photo I took of my Pewter Sophia... she's one of my faves!)
 
Yes, I do expect Coach to replace the bag every time when it sates the warranty is for lifetime and as for caring for the bag the documentation I have states "there is nothing you have to do for your bag, it will age gracefully with a patina darkening over time." So when it does not do that I expect it to be replaced given the warranty. And other manufacturers offer this too: the Tilley Hat guarantee is -- "The Tilley Guarantee

The thing that makes Tilley “The World’s Best Hat” is its lifetime guarantee. Most Tilley Hats and Caps are guaranteed for life not to wear out. Here is the lifetime guarantee according to the official Tilley website:

“If there is a problem caused by poor workmanship or faulty material, please send your freshly washed Hat or Cap to us (Tilley) and we’ll replace it free – whatever’s fair."

Point is lifetime does mean my lifetime not 5-7 years. Coach warrantied for lifetime with no exceptions. Honor it.

Why do you keep quoting the Tilly warranty? What does that have to do with anything here? We're talking about Coach, a completely different company. Apples & oranges.

It is interesting to note that the Tilly warranty mentions "poor workmanship or faulty material." That clearly excludes owner damage. Same as Coach.

I would like very much to see this lifetime warranty specifically relating to your bag that you claim to have in writing from Coach. Would you mind posting it here?

I would also like to know exactly what course you have pursued with Coach. You said earlier in the thread that you sent it in and it was sent back as unrepairable, so I can only assume they offered you the discount & you declined. That is standard procedure for their warranty/repairs. Are you just angry that you're not being handed a new $600 briefcase for free?

Coach has never offered an unconditional lifetime warranty that would replace a bag with a brand new one at any time for any reason. Since you enjoy comparing other companies, you are probably aware that most companies' warranties are voided by owner fault. And this issue you mention - fading except for under a covered flap - is almost certainly due to owner fault. There's *no* way a bag will fade that way unless left exposed to sun or light for a long period of time - i.e. improperly stored. And that is in no way due to "poor workmanship or faulty material." You also said that the instructions with the bag said not to use any products, yet you purchased & used a separate care kit. Coach is very specific with which products are to be used/not used on which leathers.

Since you have previously ignored & talked around every question regarding how you cared for the bag, stored it, or products used on it, I can only assume you realize this is your fault and are just angry that you aren't getting a brand new bag.

I would encourage you, if you have not already, to go into a Coach store in person, with your bag, the care kit, and any documentation you have, and talk to a store manager about your situation. I always encourage customers to do this with any repair issue, so the store can see and handle the bag. They can probably better assist you with things than we can here, and you may get a significant credit or discount toward a new bag. I think that would be very generous, given the situation. If going into a store isn't feasible, call customer service and ask to speak to a supervisor who can assist you, and explain your situation to them. I think someone at Coach will be able to help you understand things much better than we can here.

You are asking for help, but yet you are being rude and accusatory to everyone who is being nice to you. What gives you the right? This is a friendly place, so you can take your sense of entitlement elsewhere. I seriously doubt the Washington Post cares about your purse. Do you think if you throw out enough idle threats the Coach fairy is going to send you a new bag? That's not how it works here.
