There is something about Cassie...

I am trying to be hopeful in thinking maybe they are just clearing out old inventory to make room for an updated Cassie. Maybe there will be a Cassie 2.0 with some minor changes? I am probably wrong though lol.

You know, I initially wanted to think the same thing. Like, the Rogues were discontinued but not exactly.

But then I thought about the Edie. It really was discontinued and its replacement was, IMO, not nearly as cool.

But from a market share point of view, I am really still trying to understand this! It doesn't seem like a good business decision, much less what their customers want.

If Coach is discontinuing the Cassie, it is, in my opinion, one of the most stupid decisions they've made, maybe after lowering quality on the Rogues and then discontinuing them for the most part.
Shake my head...

I don't know for sure if Coach is discontinuing the Cassie. I know you won't be able to get it from Macy's. Once a bag hits the 40% mark, it's going out. They are still keeping the azure Cassie 19 at full price.
It won't be the first time that Coach has discontinued a popular product; I remember when they retired the more classic designs and those wound up in the outlets. And that was kind of stupid because women always buy those, because they're understated and. classic.

I agree! And I feel the same way about a lot of the Coach Originals they released last (?) year, like the Emery, Rambler etc.

They need to maintain a series of classic styles with permanent neutrals and fun seasonal colours.

The Ergo literally came out yesterday and the large one is on sale?!

I love snagging pieces on discount but this is terrible as far as the brand’s strategy goes.

The Cassie is incredibly popular with customers from various age groups and it’s brought both old and new customers who hadn’t been paying attention to the brand for years. The silhouette is very classic and pays homage to a highly sought-after vintage style.

We need to take over their branding team and knock some sense into the company!

I *totally* missed your conversation around this when I posted earlier this evening about what my SA told me -- because apparently I hadn't scrolled up enough.

In any case, clearly, I totally agree with all of you about Coach's plan for the Cassie! :confused1:

I know the Cassie is very classic and can be paired with a lot of styles. Its inspiration, the Court bag is softer around the edges, making it suitable for a softer silhouette. The Cassie looks great with pencil skirts and straight leg /skinny pants and leggings. (It does work with wider legs, but is better with a straighter, more defined silhouette. It could be that they're looking at fashion trends. Fashion, she's a fickle creature and does drive sales. Everyone's been wanting a puffy Tabby. And apart from that, they did have a change in leadership and they did make decision to simplify product lines.

I get trends. The Cassie is a classic silhouette & directly competes with a very similar high end piece (LV PM) that that company keeps on its must have list. Is every bag Coach makes going to be dictated by trends? IMO, they have got to start making & KEEPING classic styles rather than this trend merry-go-round.

My theory is that they're trying to replace the Cassie with the Kipp, because the piping along the flap won't be as prone to damage as the glazing on the Cassie.
I'd be ok (not thrilled) with that if the Kip was bigger.

That makes sense and perhaps they'll make a Cassie-sized Kip, so basically a new version of the Court.

Definitely agree.
