How low if you don't mind me asking? Is your shw or ghw?

Supposedly, caviar leather is not that superior in durability in comparison to lambskin but a lot of people just want caviar even if they prefer the feel of lambskin and sometimes it just boggles my mind. I just think why pay so much money only to not enjoy your bag as much as you would have if you got the leather you want. A lot of people buy these items for investment reasons only and sadly, it's the people that choose the "undesirable" leather that miss out.
I like lambskin and it’s not the leather that is the issue. It’s in perfect condition I only used it once. It’s just very small and I started to hate how long the chain strap was. I actually prefer lambskin to caviar and it’s not that delicate. I do have a caviar small flap I purchased the Saturday before last though. My WOC has gold hardware. I prefer gold to silver.

Hello everyone, I was trying to buy my first WOC (caviar with silver hardware) yesterday in London Selfridges but totally confused and wanted to ask your advise. They all look different quality - some are shiny, some are thicker leather, or puffier, etc. At the end I wasn't able to choose and left.. I am going back tomorrow to buy one as I needed some time to prepare. Which one would you advise to look for ? Is "Made in Italy" bags are better quality than "made in France"? What kind of caviar leather is better? I would really appreciate any of your advice! Alexandra

It's more about what you prefer. For the WOC, some prefer the flatter quilts as it sits better against your body, some prefer puffier quilting. Some prefer matte and some prefer shiny. Pick the one that appeals to you and looks best on you in person. For the woc, I prefer flatter quilts and a shiny caviar, but not so shiny that it looks like plastic.

I don't mind if the slg is made in Italy or France. It's hard enough to find a piece that doesn't have defects so I would pick the piece that is constructed better. From personal observation, I did note that the made in Italy ones are better. My made in France woc started to bow after just a few uses. I went to the boutique and looked at a bunch of new ones to compare. All the pieces that were made in France had thinner edge stitching and one was already bowing brand new. However, the made in Italy ones had significantly thicker edge stitching and looked perfect. I have a hunch that helps it retain it's shape. I wish I knew to look out for the thicker edge stiching before, so I hope that helps!

Thank you so much for your reply! It is really helpful. I also noticed that Made in Italy wocs are more structured and also have the stiffer bottom part of the bag. Some new made in France wocs had already sugging bottom.. Maybe I am a perfectionsts
but I am noticing these details straight away. I wanted to buy Chanel bag only made in France but now I am not sure.
Also I am not sure if I like flatter or puffier ones, never noticed the difference before. I wish Chanel made all their bags the same!

Mine is made in France and I love it. Only wore 5 times and still looks new. Just get what you love and enjoy…otherwise you will drive yourself crazy. Trust me I know.

Thats good that you're noticing all the details now. I was not aware of differences piece to piece when I bought my first Chanel and learned my lesson when it was too late lol. I would say, don't get hung up on where it's made. As long as it has an excellent structure and you like the leather, it doesn't matter where its made. Italian ones are puffier from what I recall.
