Thank you, dharma, klynneann, katekluet, and lovely64. It's nice to know there's some practical purpose to 20+ years of study, then teaching of art history—to interpret Hermès!

I'm still surprised H would chose Flaneur as a theme; that's rather a heady choice. But if this is true, I'm going to be over the moon. The Flaneur has been my model for life since I was in my mid-20s.
I, too, have been a flaneur (-euse) since spending a semester in Paris as a 20 year old (do you know Ned Rorem's song, "Early in the Morning"? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xtAh3hEBPnk).

Thank you for all this! Art history majors are the smartest people I know, and the most able to branch out into other fields. (DD double majored in philosophy and art history and is now unemployed, but never mind!)

:hugs:

I was going to wait until tmrw for better light but since I took it out to play, I thought I would snap a few pics. I loved it at the boutique but now that I have it home I'm having second thoughts...depending on how you tie it, can be subdued or a riot of colors. I hate when this happens. I would prefer to love it at home too! Ok here we go. Picture heavy post.

Pretty. Didn't see this one.

I saw the cappucine colorway of palais. Very different because it was tone on tone orange. No other color.

Saw the taro mous and it's not as detailed and fine as her other designs.

Thanks for sharing the song, momasaurus.. new to me

This forum surprised me every day.. what wamazing contributions..

I agree with you DH it's an art history teacher and in spite that it's not the most lucrative of jobs he's been teaching for more tan 30 years and still enjoying it!!!!!!

For those of you who are in Toronto, I was just at the store and a few of the Spring designs have arrived!! Saw a few mousselines and 90 cm silks. There might have been more, but I was a woman on a mission, and for once that mission didn't involve silk goods!!:smile1:

Wow! Look at that!!! Lovely on you darling.
U r very brave to jump on this design so fast.
While it is heavenly... I'd wait to see more since you are having doubts.. What is making you have doubts, by the way???
The design is promising bc of the multiple ways to tie it making it look like multiple shawls though.... U can always get it again later if you regret returning it. I think it will sit better with you if you wait....

Just my 2 cents.

I don't know why you're having second thoughts. It looks great, and I'm sure pic #2 would match your earrings!

I'm wavering because the background oatmeal color in the corners looks much darker and kind of muddy/dull at home. At the store, it looked much brighter. I hate how H boutiques have inadequate/horible lighting. I do love the green border though and the versatility in tying because of all the colors in it. :thinkin:

Well there's entirely too much oatmeal in the shawl for you to keep it if you're not liking that shade. I'm sure there will be others with the green in it.

I totally agree that H boutique lighting is atrocious! Often times, I have to take the merchandise (esp leather goods) outside to make a final decision to buy

Agree with you, IF. In fact, almost every single 90cm and 140cm scarf/GM purchase at H is looked at first outside the store with my SA. Especially, if I am trying to match it to a B/K or an item of clothing ~ the lighting is so important.

If you don't LOVE the scarf, MYH, then definitely return it IMO.
