Hello stylemechanel,
In the early stages of my scarf collection, I likened myself to a drug addict. I NEEDED my fix at H every few days. Then I got my fix on a weekly basis. Before I knew it, Ihave been visiting H bimonthly. Recently I discovered I only get 'genres' I do not possess. For me, this H scarf obsession is like releasing a starving child at a buffet. Of course the hungry child eats everything in sight quickly at the beginning. In time, he becomes more discerning & eats slowly. Finally he will pick food that is truly outstanding! He will stop altogether when he is full(I am still not at this stage yet)!:p

Storage is indeed a headache. The truth is, I also get bags, shoes, jewelry & the like. Yes, my wardrobe is bursting at the seams. So I put some orange boxes in the guest room. I hope I don't end up storing the boxes in the cats' room.

Do show us your acquisitions! It is such a joy to view all these 'objects of beauty'!

Not only is your analogy perfect to understand but you do it in a way that really hits home. Of my 6 scarves there are 3 that I absolutely love: cheval fleuri, mythiques phoenix, and mors & gourmettes (the first one I ever bought in 2010 and never opened until I bought cheval fleuri last month). The others only look nice in the box, and the colors do not wow me until I wrap them around my neck and then I love them - the colors help to brighten my skin tone and I must admit I love that it covers up my 50 plus year old neck. I have been fortunate that this time I found an SA who is warm, gracious, and great at color.

I have already moved my scarves and boxes to a new spot and I can see that I will have to continually reorganize and move as this collection grows. When my son moved out I took over his room - maybe it is time to redo his closet....... hummmmm....::thinkin: :D

Tomorrow I am taking my daughter and her friends who are home for spring break and visiting California for the first time to Rodeo Drive. We will be stepping into Hermes to look at the beautiful silks and maybe I will find one to bring home, again, for the 7th time. I guess I am still hungry like you.

Thank you again for your original post, your encouraging to post photos(which I hope to do this weekend) and your help D Lee!! I was getting a little anxiety about how fast this could grow and worried about storage. :hugs:

PS If it wasn't for Nico I probably would not have posted, her encouragement led me to your post. I am so grateful I found it. A big thanks to Nico and you!

Are you a fortune teller? I looked at H. UK at is was there! Just one and it is now on the way to me! (together with two " Happy meeting" scarves):yahoo:
I feel so happy for u! Somehow I feel cw9 should be popular & easy to wear! Glad to be twins with u. Remember to post mod shots here!:smile1:[/QUOTE]
Can't wait to share them. I am also very curious of "happy meeting" scarves. Will post once they arrive!

Hello D Lee, you wrote this post on February 21 and it really spoke to me. So I wanted to thank you and telll you that you have made me feel sssooooo much better!!! :smile1:

I am just stepping in to the world of Hermes, again, after a truly horrendous experience last May (and that was only my second time in a boutique in 4 years - it was a scary prospect). But this very lovely SA helped me to find a scarf and taught me how to knot it in a number of ways. I left smiling not only at my new experience but at the beautiful silk wrapped around my neck. Then I went back the following week, the one after that, and the one after that where I just decided to buy two more. :D I now have 5 in the space of one month.

I marvel at your collection of 60!!! And wonder where they are stored. I think I am going down the same slippery orange slope. Your post to HermesHope really hit a cord for me. Thank you!!!

By the way I have been a lurker here for a while. Hope it's OK for me to post.
I am the same! I had no idea why women spend so much money on H scarves until I bought my first one last month in Dubai. It was meant to be just a nice souvenir. I came back from Dubai with 4 scarves and two shawls. Than I discovered H online ... Having family all over the world does not help - I've ordered from Uk, USA and Canada H website already! Now I am planning how to hijack my husbands closet. I need more drawers!

I got news for you stylemechanel: HS collecting is a heck of a lot like stamp collecting only the scarves are bigger and not sticky on the back.

That said, welcome to the club!!!

This forum is a very good platform for like-minded scarf-lovers to exchange ideas. The moderators are doing their job well & I feel comfortable posting here, knowing that there won't be out-of-step behavior!

I guess a lot of us here are like u & me. We are middle-aged & all done with child-rearing. With time & disposable income on hand, we tend to pursue our interests more fervently. My first scarf was originally a Xmas gift for an overseas friend. I unboxed the scarf & finally usurped it because I suddenly discovered it could cover my neck very well. I don't like turkey, much less its neck!

I love viewing photos posted by tpfers. From them,I learn about the various ways of tieing & how to co-ordinate your wardrobe with your scarves. People on this forum are a helpful & resourceful bunch. Hope to see your photos soon!:smile1:

OH MY! I'd definitely be homeless, broke and sleeping under my GMs quickly, as much as I stalk h.com !!!! :p

This sounds so familiar. i bought my first H scarf in mid-Nov, and. I am now up to 10!
5 came from ebay, 5 new from H since the beginning of the year.

I love both the scarf of the day and 2014 scarf threads, and particularly enjoy seeing how people wear the scarves.

To all- keep up the posts!

:blushing: Oh stylemechanel, you make me sound like such an enabler! :hugs: Have fun shopping on Rodeo with your daughter and friends! Don't feed the hungry kid too much!

Aaaawww Nico! You are not my enabler - you are my supporter! My comrade in arms, my friend who has had to hear all of the sad story and gently, slowly help me bravely walk back in - and because of you I walked in with my head held high and meet an SA. And now I own 6 - maybe 7 (as of tomorrow) scarves. You are my friend!!!! :hugs::hugs:

Hi bibiviv, we can start to walk this beautiful road together! My head spins at the opportunities you have available to you. How do you keep it all straight with being able to order in so many countries? I am worried about keeping records of what I have and the color ways and not duplicating. How do you do that? Will you please let me know when you talk to your husband about utilizing his closet? :D You don't happen to have a child that has grown up and moved out yet, do you?

Thank you D Lee! I am so glad to be in the company of women who are warm and welcoming. I have been a lurker for some time. It is from this site that I found MaiTai's site and her many many ways of using the scarves which then made me want her scarf rings...and a few more scarves. :-)

Thank you again for your encouragement. I will try and post my "starter" collection this weekend!

Thank you so much scarf1. I also lurk on scarf of the day but have not braved the waters to show my "starter" collection. What I have contemplated was picking one of the themes of and going off to Hermes every once in a while and buying based on the theme. I do believe that can make for a well rounded collection - a big one but very well rounded.

Thank you for the welcome!!! It is so good to know that I am in company of of women who are smart, with a good eye for style, and kind.

These words could have come directly from my mouth, except that I was collecting scarves at a faster rate than u in the very beginning. Now, after accumulating16/17 months' stock, I am really slowing down. I made many attempts to stay on ban island. But unfortunately I have trained myself into an escape artist! OMG!
