Toujours, there is a distinct possibility that Tim Gunn would scream, "Make it work!" even if we protested the hodge-podge nature of some of those S/S 2013 outfits--although I was glad to see the link.

The silver accessories were interesting. And, I think the prints of each individual garment could by themselves make an interesting scarf. It was the mix of 3 pieces that was disconcerting and bordering on garish.

I found the pointed toe wedge interesting b/c I think this past Saturday's WSJ had some commentary about shoes and mentioned that a flat square toe was was the coming thing.

Tell me it's not so! Finally, some shoes for us pointy-toed people. I wear 2 sizes smaller in those...

eagle- From watching Project Runway for the last 5 season, I have noted TG is not all that forgiving and does not hold back when something offends his sense of style and good taste- generally I agree with him, but not always. He barks "make it work" when a project is still in process- sadly, these pieces have already left the workroom and met someone's approval.

I do not think there is much to love in this collection, even separates worn "seaparately". Not loving the shoes either.

Agreed.

OT- would you post modeling shots of your Sequences Feu GM c/s in cw06? Merci beaucoup!

I'll post some shots as soon as I get it in the fall 2012 and Ode to the GM threads.
It shipped today, so it should arrive by Wednesday.

Since I'm becoming less enamored of the women's offerings, especially with the upcoming S/S collection, the Men's side may become my go-to for new designs.

New twills:

Les trophees
Echec du roi
I like flowers
Photo finish
Le songe de la licorne
Ors bleus d'Afrique
Les jeux d'Hermes
Les bateaux du monde
Promenade au fauborg
Pique fleuri de provence

So I think that during the RTW show on Sunday, we only saw one of the 10 new fall twills, right? If so I'm willing to reserve judgment for a while on the new scarf collection (though I agree the clothing collection overall was a mess).

^ Cosmo,

Two scarves were shown on the RTW runway: Echec du Roi and Les Jeux d'Hermes (the London special edition Olympic scarf).

You can see 3 colorations of Echec and 1 coloration of Les Jeux in the RTW thread:

I'm also wondering if the leather (?) blazer jacket that was made in Echec comes with a matching scarf. If so, that might be a 4th colorway.

Yeah, that's right, we had seen the Olympic scarf earlier too. I watched the RTW show and while I thought it was pretty awful, and I didn't really care for Echec du Roi, my point is that we haven't seen the vast majority of the new scarf designs.

Thanks,, Scarfmischief, for the RTW thread. A year or two ago, I thought Marc Jacobs tried to bring back the 80s and for 2013, Hermes tossed its hat into the 80's ring. Big, bulky, dropped shoulders--a plus for those of us that couldn't bear to discard our 80's/90s looks. The H fit was voluminous for some jackets on the RTW thread. In the 50's, there was a similar voluminous look--oversized, flared jackets for example--that became an alternative to the elegant fitted day suit. So, this is a look that repeats every generation, every 30 years or so. It's a question of getting the eye used to seeing a looser, unstructured look.

But the prints clashed--I saw the prints in some of the outfits before I noticed the model. The prints wore the model, not the reverse. I guess the print mixes on recent past scarves have encouraged the house to do the same in RTW. Used to be that one print was supposed to be dominant in a print mix. H doesn't seem to necessarily follow that rule. If it takes off, this look could diffuse to some degree to the mass market. Yikes.

I'm sure they will find their rightful owners. But not us. :nogood:

I agree - I will reserve judgement until I saw more of the new scarves.
